How do you know who and what is right or left wing? Well that's pretty bloody easy. Because just about every right winger here proudly identifies himself as a right winger and just about every left winger here proudly identifies himself as a left winger. It's thus not too complicated. As for knowing what the difference between the wings represent, pretty much any history or political science text book should give you a more elegant answer than me -- but it's pretty well established.

Nonetheless, if you bother to read the many pages in this thread (hard going, I admit) you'll note that those who think Muslims, racists, people from Peckham and other minorities have something "to do with it" all happen to be right wingers.
