I actually rate CG, especially at a club such as ours. I thought he contributed a lot to our team when he was here on loan and he’s still a good age. Edited by Phil’s Barber (20 Aug 2023 2.55pm)

They'll push MacAlister forward with maybe Jones and Elliott back up. Gallagher is more box to box than defensive. Probably an issue he has is he's not really a holding midfielder but not really an attacking one either. I always get the feeling he likes going forward rather than staying back.

Hate for it to be continually discussed and contribute to this but I’ve no great desire to see CG back. If he comes on a free that’s fine but ‘big money’ is ridiculous. He worked well ahead of the midfield as he closed down/ put pressure on the opposition in possession high up the pitch and occasionally popped up in the box. He’s not a CM and this is evidenced through his performances when placed in the role, he’s a CAM. We have Ebz there who is miles better IMHO. With Eze, Doucoure and Lerma there CG would not get near the starting team. I’d let his career fall further into obscurity before even looking at him, as price will continually fall. If Chelsea want rid they’ll of course drum up as much Palace talk as possible because that season he was the right fit for the team at that time. Beyond that he’s looked less than ordinary. If Doucoure were to go, we’d end up with the Hughes/Schlupp/Jairo rotation again but if we were to spend big, it’s have to be to replace him, or on a winger/striker surely. Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Would love to see Gallagher back but depends on price. I reckon he's worth 30-35m. If we could get 70m for Doucoure and buy Gallagher for that, would be good business.

From what I've seen Gallagher is an impressive player but more so within teams that are more direct. I think he suited our style down to the ground but less so Chelsea's.
