I’m second guessing of course but I think the point is that results under Glasner are broadly what we could have expected under Hodgson. And Hodgson would have been coming in for criticism for a run in which we have only won one game against a dire Burnley team.

Many on here blamed Hodgson rather than the state of the squad.

On a positive note, I think overall performances have been better under Glasner while it’s clear that his tactics and style require more from our players and some of them are struggling with it.

However last nights decision to bring Ozoh on in a central defensive role backfired completely. And I think it cost us a point.

Hard to see where another win is going to come from at this stage.

Part of me is so annoyed at Parish and his 'just tweak things to avoid relegation' pathetic approach that I wouldn't mind seeing Palace relegated just to p1ss him off. How many seasons have we 'just, by the skin of our teeth', avoided the drop? Joel Ward (God bless him) still starting after all these years! We've seen what Munoz does haven't we? It's not rocket science! We've been identifying the two or three gaps we need attending for yonks. Solanski... We apparently could have got him on loan FFS? But we didn't? Even Zaha wasn't the out-and-out dedicated striker we needed (but he saved our backsides anyway). I am sick of this sh1te! Last season, last few games, we all know we only needed: a Solanski, a Munoz, and not much else. PLENTY of funds to more than cover this. But, NO oh f**king NO. So now, we're watching this boring drivel trying to get a point to...who? F**KING B-MOUTH! And you know what? Before watching that game, I wasn't even expecting any more. What happened (non-dedicated strikers like Eze getting chances but failing to score) was what I predicted and expected. I only watched to see guys like Wharton developing. FU Parish.

The team now 11 games unbeaten save to Man City and Liverpool??

I am not one to blame bad luck, but this season not enough credit has been given for it. Take Bournemouth. Look where they are in the league. To be there they must have lost loads and been cr@p a great deal, but also have gone through purple patches to steer them clear.

We lost twice to them this season. And on both occasions we managed to time it perfectly for their purple patches.

This is the point I have been making but not as succinctly as you.

I think you're correct to an extent, but Glasner is in his honeymoon period and we did turn in lame performances under Hodgson this season even when our better players were fit.
If we ever get our players fit under Glasner, and we still perform poorly, I've no doubt Glasner will receive his share of criticism.

If Mr Hodgson was still in situ and the results mirrored that of the 'Glasner era', he would have pilloried with the focus on him rather than the depth of the squad.

This side misses Doucoure. I have always preferred a hard working midfield above all else; Doucoure partnered with Wharton and I think we will be getting somewhere.
Out the dead wood and the sicknotes, get (if possible) £50m for the likes of Edouard and Eze etc, and reinvest sensibly, building a TEAM.

Amen!

All true, but the point I am making is that there was far more depth to the criticism of Roy beyond just the state of the squad.

There were historical criticisms of the 'style' and the expectation upon a manager who had been around the club for many years is surely different to one who has shortly arrived, brand new, to a pretty dire state.

That's not to say Roy deserved 'shot and shell' and that Glasner is immune from the criticism, but they're two very different circumstances.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It's a worry.

My concern is that I imagine the Glasner deal had been a long time coming. I suspect it was scheduled for the season end but had to be brought forward due to Hodgson's health. The point is that a canny cup winning coach - still valued in Germany - had been doing his homework on the club and the league for some time and should have come in hitting the ground running. However, the changes appear more tinkering than transformatory.

On a hope side, Bournemouth's coach took time to set and we can see their recent form establishes them as EPL regulars. Give OG to the end of the season to know his players better (and he does appear to be rotating at a rate that would have alarmed Hodgson), upgrade a few players to the Wharton/Munoz standard, and pray that Doucoure recovers to his last season quality and we could be watching a very different Palace come August.

We need Olise back playing and Mitchell pushed firmly back to left back or on the bench. Glasner needs to find someone else as wing back who doesn’t panic in advanced positions. I can’t believe he’s stuck with Mitchell there and actually feel sorry for the lad who doesn’t look comfortable at all.

It's why we banked everything on Lewis Hall, but he went to Newcastle. They were willing to pay full wages and agree an obligation to buy. They have more money than us. We couldn't compete.

And we couldn't get a LW in the winter as we (thankfully) blew the budget on Wharton and Munoz.

It is frustrating watching the team looking so ineffectual, but we are where we are mainly because of injuries to all of our star players.
Bournemouth are currently in very good form and have beaten all the bottom sides. Sadly, we are a bottom side right now.

It's hard to see how we improve until we get a full team out but we have to remain positive and hope that we can survive this season.
It could be very close, especially with the games we have left.

Our mission for the next two games is damage limitation.

Last night we were up against a largely full-strength team whose manager has gradually bedded in his ideas and a squad that has received a £200 million net investment since January 2023. We held our own despite massive injury issues. Under Roy we weren't just losing, the team looked lost and clueless, sometimes even when we got results. Under Glasner we are creating good chances and seem more organised. Another thing is that Glasner (so far) has never blamed injuries or suggested the players filling in are not up to it, something Roy was doing most of this season. The focus seems to always be on how can the team improve. This is the philosophy of all of the top coaches (Pep, Klopp, etc).

I am optimistic, but only time will tell. The next two games could be a tough watch though.
