Except Labour don't pay the £5,000 voting bonus. Try it. Might come in useful.

At this time of the cost of living crisis, the Tories are considering lifting the cap on bankers' bonuses.
I must admit to being a bit bemused....I mean Labour is a complete and utter disaster on multiple fronts just waiting to happen but then again the Tories just seem to be out to lunch.
Don't get it.

Truss is already even worse than we thought she was going to be.
The tory fantasy model of rewarding the rich and it trickling down, does not work.
So why regurgitate it all the time.

The cap wasn't adhered to anyway. However, even mooting it as a policy demonstrates Truss reckons she won't last long. Better sort out the mates and donors whilst she can. Next up, give public money to energy and water companies and their executives. After that, a bit of a boost for defence contractors and nearly done. Pharmaceuticals surely have had their cut, so one less trough to fill.

Indeed- but don"t touch the bankers- if we don"t reward them, they will go to America!

I don’t think you get how it works. Firstly these bankers earn a fortune for their bosses. They deserve a reward as any of us would expect and want if what we do earns a huge profit for their boss. If that’s wrong then explain why without all the heart bleeding there are poor people etc. The EU brought in the 2 x salary maximum bonus. That’s done now due to brexit. What was happening was that salaries were hoisted so high as to put a banker on the bosses salary purely so IF they made bonus it was a true reflection of their earnings for the company. That encompassed extra costs for the business of pension,NI etc. now that this stupid rule is being quashed a sensible salary will be offered and they will seriously have to put the effort in to make bonus. If they don’t then they don’t get a bonus and just a sensible wage for the stress and effort. This will help make London a place that brokers and bankers want to live and work. Alongside the fact they will spend s***loads and help the economy. Green eyed monsters won’t help. Tbh this is a very conservative policy and should really be accepted as the way forwards. I find it strange that posters want the strikers to get massive rises as it’s apparently what they’re worth but don’t want these bankers paid what they’re actually worth.

Or, I find it strange that you want bankers to get huge rewards on top of their salary but don"t want strikers to get above inflation rises. let alone bonus!

Or, lets pay nurses lots more, so we attract more staff for the failing NHS and can spend that extra lolly in the economy- win win!
