Leaving aside the fact that half of your response is concerning semantics as if we are interested in a player but won't pay what the selling club wants or what the player wants in wages we are still effective "losing out" there is already huge disparity in wages at our (and probably every other) club. Pardew made a ridiculous public comment that Cabaye earned more than anyone else because he was much better and since then Zaha has had a huge and well publicized pay rise. In addition players that cost little or nothing like Sako and Campbell earn comparatively more than others as the club is only interested in cost of the total package But why are we 'losing out'? It's such a negative comment tha I don't feel is justified (most of the time). Say I go to buy a car & have a budget but the garage want £500 more - if I choose not to buy it I have not lost anything, I have simply chosen not to proceed and to look elsewhere. Pardew's attitude to wages has created issues ( as you rightly say) but to continue down that route would be absurd. Edited by Nobbybm (21 Jul 2017 4.26pm)
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

I actually agree, although I do think we need to have our options tied up by the start of the season. The first few games are against the fodder and if we don't get some points on the board early then we will be needing points against the big boys again.

Where is the risk? What is worse a couple of inexperienced defenders or Damo (bless him)? Damian Delaney has been an absolute rock for Palace the entire time he has been here but he wasn't up to The Premier League last season let alone this! I've come around to the idea we won't get Sakho but if we sign the kid from Ajax and Chambers they could both be worth a fortune in a couple of years on potential! Get it done preferably so they can both play against Metz and Schalke

Be very careful of how you phrase that, WE(cpfc) are considered 'Fodder' to a lot of teams It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Huddersfield beat us a SP. We are NOT an established PL side like we all like to think we are, we are still....erm 'FODDER'
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Just interested in people's thoughts....

Link says we've signed him although I don't think it's official yet? But more importantly perhaps is that it raves about how much of an important player he's been for the ajax for the last two seasons. I hadn't known this, I thought he was just breaking through. Apparently not! I checked his stats and he's played 23 league games 2015/16 and 16 league games 2016/17. Which is a fair amount. On top of which he's played ten games both seasons in Europe. So sounds as if he was very much first choice in the europa league. I had been worrying this signing was just a squad signing but by the sounds of things I think he'd be assuming first team roll. What's people's thoughts?

I wouldnt say 16 games is regular starter, but I would like another Lcb aswell, whether their experienced or not because I don't hold hope in Delaney and one injury to Riedewald, then Delaney in the line up.

I would still place us amongst the fodder at the moment, which is why we need to give ourselves the best chance of picking up points against those who are likely to be around us, or just below us come the end of the season. We did well to dig ourselves out of the crap last year, we will do better not to place ourselves in it this.
