Someone makes an accusation which cannot be substantiated and then others come out of the woodwork with a grudge and make similar claims.

listening to the FA chief reasons, to paraphrase: * I was put under intense political pressure. * I had to trawl the guy's past to find a blemish * I found something vague that could be said to be incompatgable with representing the country. * If I had not done it to him someone may have tried to drag me into this mess. * I was put under intense political pressure.
* I had to trawl the guy's past to find a blemish
* I found something vague that could be said to be incompatgable with representing the country.
* If I had not done it to him someone may have tried to drag me into this mess.

I reckon off to the employment tribunal post haste.
