I think Sol is misunderstood. It would be interesting if he did a build it from the basement project and I don't know how it would go. When I have heard him on Talksport he sounds frustrated - I really think he should buy a club and make it happen himself - total control. It would make a good Netflix doc.

He was interviewed at length by Adrian Durham this summer. It was illuminating. There was a heavy suggestion that he lacks humility and self insight. Durham was not unsympathetic, but clearly thought Campbell was going about it the wrong way. Simon Jordan was more blunt in his analysis from a chairman’s perspective.

He seems a bit confused as to how to progress his career ,wants to be a top manager before he has done anything in minor leagues , wants to be the Mayor of London without so much as being elected as a councillor . He needs to prove his worth , being a decent footballer counts for jack s***e .

I think part of the difference is Vieria went and cut his teeth at youth and reserve level - and made contacts. He turned down Newcastle by all accounts as it didn't fit. Vieria has been coaching since 2011, Campbell (per his own Linkedin) only took the badges in 2016. Sol Campbell always strikes me as a bit like Tony Adams - great player but with an inflated public ego when it comes to management/himself. He recently said If I had the chances that some of my other friends, team mates I’ve played with, they’ve had three, four or five clubs, good clubs, Championship clubs who had a bit of money at the time. "They’ve been backed, given them a go, it might not have worked out, but they had a go, they had a good 18 months or two years to see what they can do, that’s all I need. I’ve had two clubs with no budget and it’s not been the best start.” I'm going to wager most of the people/team mates didn't try and run for London Mayor or come back to football as an after thought. He also left Spurs for Arsenal (and personally I couldn't give a fig who a player has played for, never understood the vitriolic hate) but I can at the same time understand why that might make someone wary. Loyalty is a two way thing and he may be reaping what he sewed because he doesn't strike me as someone who thinks he needs to serve an apprenticeship or back when he was a player being loyal to anyone but Sol Campbell.

Vieira comes across very different to Campbell. I would suggest he is a far safer bet. Plus he is one of the worlds greatest ever players based on silverware so he must have a pretty food idea what’s happening on the pitch.

I think it starts way before they even take their coaching badges..how much more likely is a black player to be labelled as a troublemaker with a bad attitude during their 12 odd years in the premier league compared to someone like Gaza or vinnie Jones who are more looked upon as loveable rogues compare the media reviews to people like balotelli Raheem Sterling or even Micah Richards who never really malicious at all but we’re just given the black sheep label...then imagine the guys who managed then throughout their careers being white English or European guys with combovers or working class Englishmen who’d be welcome in a typical east end boozer in the 80s and nineties easily blend in to society...then imagine why the black players feel they’d have 90% less chance of being successful as they had already been outcasted or scapegoated as a player, then to risk taking coaching badges and being the fall guy of a whole football club as the manager must be a pretty daunting prospect..it’s not about each individual club or player or set of fans or incident it’s an amalgam ion of everything across the board.from the start of their careers to the end

Put some facts to it and I'll be all ears, but otherwise that's just offensive, ill-informed, divisive nonsense.

Wow you’ve really got a chip on your shoulder if you were offended by that... how ironic Obviously Ill informed and just creating my own problem yeah yeah heard it all before mate I think you and people like yourself could possibly be part of the problem. There was nothing I said that was inflammatory maybe at best a tad uncomfortable but to get such a reaction is disappointing, yet unsurprising. For the record I think soul Campbell is one who does have a crap attitude and some strange outlooks on life if anybody else was wondering but I won’t be replying to you personally anymore as it seems you are just here to belittle my valid and considered opinion..

I've heard from very good honest folks that apparently Sol Campbell was very much interested in taking over as manager at Crystal Palace and was left very dissapointed that he was overlooked in favour of Patrick Vieira Sol hasn't made it any secret regarding his desire to be a top class manager OVERLOOKED Sol Campbell still has a fierce passion for coaching and desire to manage – why won’t anyone give the former Arsenal, Tottenham and England defender a chance? Campbell helped make Macclesfield bankrupt, pursueing them for outstanding wages of £160,00, but is reported as having a nett worth of £50m. He managed Southend to relegation. I would imagine, these are the main reasons clubs arent interested. He has a poor record as a manager.

Not sure Sol has the credentials to be a top manager, admittedly neither has PV, but the latter seems to have a way with him to handle players and he seems to be well respected. I think Darren Moore has got what it takes and it wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a crack at a Premiership club, he has a way of getting players to perform. I’m sure in time we will see more black managers throughout the entire football league.
