If we should keep religion out of football then surely he shouldn’t do that either, along with all the players the cross themselves when they come on the pitch or score right? I’m an atheist myself so most the religions to me are a nonsense but it doesn’t stop me respecting people who are religious and trying to understand what might be insensitive to them. I’ve also studied/worked with Muslims who drink, but are nowhere near as dedicated to their faith as the older generations in their family.
