To a certain extent I agree with you but one of the most important aspects of Muslim life is family. If there are cousins of marriageable age, an arrangement will be made. When I went to work in Islamabad this was one aspect of the job I found baffling/intriguing. The majority seemed relatively happy with the marriage ( or put on a brave front) others were “appalled “ and would try to get away from it, indeed the HC had “safe” houses for them until departure could be finalised. One of the worst cases I saw involved a British male who had a British pakistani girlfriend in the U.K., this went against the family’s wishes and he was actually kidnapped whilst in pakistan until he agreed to the arranged marriage
