.....and a shyte manager. Edited by PalazioVecchio (03 Jun 2023 1.56pm) What is success? It's inevitable that all success ends in failure for most football managers. PV is a prime example. First season a success then ended in failure. Brendan Rodger another one. Success with Leicester but then ended in failure. Even Alan pardew a success but then ended in failure with us. End of the day out next manager will last 2-3 years (after hodgson) before it either ends in failure or goes to a bigger club. Marco Silva? Failure at hull and Everton. But then a success at Fulham? There are some managers who fit particular clubs but then don't fit others. I think that's what we need to think about at Palace. Why so much better under Roy? Answer that question and we probably find what we need to know.

Answer that question and we probably find what we need to know. I think its a simple case that Roy is a top manager, and gets the most out of what he has at club level, good or bad squads. he was very defensive when we had a crap squad, and is being much more expansive with the current squad.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Answer that question and we probably find what we need to know. as i said above, Croydon-Roy has a long CV with much past success. Surely its The ONLY reasonable qualification for a job as a Prem manager. unless you want Frank Lampard ?

I would like to suggest why putting an untried manager in the Palace job is a greater risk than say Arteta was at Arsenal. Arsenal are a rich club with a squad many of whom would walk into our side. If Arteta had been a disaster the club could afford to sack him bring in a replacement and buy players to dig themselves out of a hole in the January window. In fact with a squad of that talent they might not perform to the level of Premier league contenders but more likely do a Chelsea, e.g. mid table mediocrity. I suggest that for us to achieve mid table safety most of our players need to perform well on a consistent basis and if they don't we would get relegated. And unlike Arsenal we probably could not buy our way out of trouble. Just a thought.

Pep Guardiola was appointed first team manager at Barcelona 2008-09 having managed their 'B' team, but he joined a top team who had won the League twice, been runners-up twice and finished 3rd in their previous 5 seasons, not forgetting being victorious in the Champions League in one of those campaigns.

If you listen to other mid table fans they say the exact same thing about their team. This season we seemed to turn up in the second halves and sleep in the first half.
