He's done a superb job at Burnley on a low budget. He's got similar traits to Sam and pulis who were both successful Palace managers. When ever you see a Burnley side. One thing your can't point at them is that they don't give their all. Their one of the most hard working teams in the league. He actually priorities the defence first. We all love the likes of Mancini, hiddink and big names but is that realistic. He would actually bring stability also if the worst come to it, he has 2 promotions from the championship. Let's go and get the ginger mourinho
Yes I think you're right! Sean Dyche for me then.

Zonal marking seems to be like a prevent defense in the NFL. It prevents you from winning.

Defenders are focused on attacking the ball (not standing still as some pundits seem to insist) as it comes into their zone, not trying to watch the ball and man at the same time. It's the same argument as having a man on the posts. The one time out of 100 that the ball goes in and you don't have someone there it looks bad, but you have to factor in the 15 times our of 100 that having that player in the box instead of standing useless on the post meant you dealt with the corner easily and forgot about it. Not saying Silva's zonal marking at Hull was good by the way, but the idea that it doesn't work at all is just lazy. In Hull's case it's difficult to tell if he just didn't have the players to do it, the time to properly change it or genuinely can't coach defensively. Personally, I thought overall he did a pretty good job under the circumstances. Best players sold in Jan and already struggling, he had no right to even get them to the penultimate game with a chance of survival.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

We're a bigger club than Burnley FFS, if we want him we'll be able to get him. For me, I'd love Ranieri or Mancini. How can anyone turn their nose up at managers who have consistently been in the Champions League? They're obvious upgrades on the managers we've had, and would allow us to attract some serious names. With all due respect to Sean Dyche who I think is a cracking manager, I think the likes of Zaha/Cabaye/Benteke/Townsend would be more keen to stay if we brought in someone with a bit more experience up the top end of the Premier League.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

I worry about Mancini as I wonder how he would do at a club our size - without bothering to google I'm not sure he's done that? We aren't likely to be spending £100 million this summer. Ranieri's stock is low after this season and his inability to turn things round worries me. Dyche would be perfect in terms of his approach to football (solid defence and counter attack). I like him and he really seems like he knows what he is doing but your point over the current players staying is a worry, plus who is he likely to attract (although Heaton would be fantastic).

Liverpool used 'Zonal marking' when the won the Championship in the days of Hansen etc.

I wouldn't mind Dyche but I notice he seems to like Ian Woan as his assistant. His 1st management job - Watford (2011/12) Woan was his assistant then Burnley Woan has been there the same years (2012-) so perhaps no Sammy Lee at Palace If we get Dyche we need him to fall out with Woan!, any ideas?
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |
