Wonder if we have tapped him up already ? Maybe why no seemingly linked job offers ?

And Benitez. It’s fanciful I know, but I cannot think beyond Dyche. I got slaughtered for mentioning Dyche before, but when I put the question out there before, someone said “ there are hundreds of possible candidates” Really, well I can’t think of any suitable managers at present.

As I said recently in response to something Rudi had posted, that is exactly the crux and the heart of it. It is entirely feasible that the most viable way for us to stay up is not only the least enjoyable, but also one which will slowly kill the club anyway. That said, supporters groups have been arguing for years that not only were fans being messed about unfairly with kick off times etc, but ticket prices were also unfairly high for what was on offer. There are a number of articles demonstrating that extreme-defensive football (or anti-football) is now more common than ever before (at least since stats were first collected), and it is reasonable to ask why fans should suffer it. The response is always dismissive, as the gravy train shows no sign of slowing. Top flight grounds are very well attended, and have been ever since the Premier League 'rebrand' got going. Prices, mercenary players and managers, mad kick off times and fixture lists haven't killed the goose, why should s*** football? I don’t watch much live football at home these days either. A lot of it is too much teams behind the ball. I don’t miss it much and I wonder why people lob sky a grand a year to watch it.

Maybe Rudi, there isn’t a lot else we can do to while away the time at the moment. I would rather play golf, but that option isn’t there.

We’re an established Premier League side now, in our 8th? consecutive season in potentially the best League in the world. The likes of Ronald Koeman went to manage Southampton, as did Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa managed Lazio and Lille in his two appointments immediately prior to taking over at a bottom half Championship side from West Yorkshire. Who is to say any of the names are fanciful?! We actually don’t know and it wouldn’t hurt to be ambitious if we mean to push on.

Hodgson did NOT make that comment in the context of thinking that that was all he thought we could get BEFORE a ball was kicked, but, after it became apparent during the game that our players were struggling to compete with Fulham's pressing game, he believed that 0-0 was the best we were likely to get. Not out of context or disingenuous at all. Did you actually see or hear the BBC interview or are you just responding to the quotes people have put on here? He was clearly talking about his approach to the game and his satisfaction with the point bearing in mind Fulham had been playing well, we had a number of players out injured and because he ‘knew’ we were going to be under pressure for large parts of the game... “Nil Nil I think was the best we were going to be able to get today...and we got it”. I was being every bit sincere in my post and I don’t think his comments could’ve been any clearer. Below is the link of the full interview.

Koeman took over a Southampton team that had finished 8th the previous season under Pochettino.A club with a well-renowned academy that have produced good players over the years, modern stadium which attracted 31,000 crowds and a good infrastructure. Pochettino was virtually unheard of in this country when he was appointed manager of Southampton, after leaving Espanyol who were bottom of the table. Apropos Bielsa at Lazio and Lille,he resigned after a few days at Lazio and left Lille after a few months.
