Impossible to achieve overall. Any legislation/policy that contradicts his Catholic religious zealotry he has to vote against even if it is in the country's best interests and wanted by the majority of people. And that's the reason why he can't be a true democrat too. He won't believe in divorce, he will think homosexuality is a mortal sin. He will believe in the devil and the Pope's infallibility. A fruitcake in short. A likeable fruitcake. But he needs to be shuffled away from the any top job.

Just because someone doesnt agree with our point of view doesnt mean they're fruitcakes..in fact it says more about those suggesting as such than those with the questionable beliefs..being a democrat doesn't mean you have to believe in Divorce/Abortion etc...democracy is about acceptance of others views and stances surely?

Yes, democracy is but fundamental religious beliefs aren't. To put it shockingly bluntly, if Jacob's daughter were raped by a vicious gang at 13 and was impregnated and had a deformed fetus he would fight for the pregnancy to go full term more so than what was best for his daughter not because he wants to but because that is what his religion has told him he must do.

You clearly didn't watch the interview then...where he said even though these were his own personal beliefs he wouldn't want to judge others on theirs....which is kinda ironic from all those digging him out by applying their own biased 'judgements' I guess (?)

Its a funny old world

Ah, but you said 'acceptance' of others views. He isn't able to go that far for that would make him not a full on Catholic. Funny old world indeed.

Firstly I never said he was a full on Catholic!? and secondly he said in the interview (which again you clearly haven't seen) that whilst they were his views he wouldn't judge others on theirs (paraphrasing) ...which is acceptance in so far that people can make their own mind up...surely?

Its certainly very interesting how we let our own bias cloud our own judgement, essentially making us the same as those we are castigating for having theirs...and yet they're the ones in the wrong and we're ok.

Personally as an Agnostic and someone that is pro Abortion rights I didn't find his comments at all distasteful as he explained his position very well; and as stated he and we are entitled to our own personal views.

Still as said, funny old world indeed

Ok, we will have to leave it at that. Just try to understand Jacob is a mouthpiece for his religion's views on subjects like abortion so is not allowed independent thought. And that would carry with him all the way to No.10 if he got the top job. He is not just your run of the mill Sunday churchgoer.

No, you don't know him to say that.

If JRM shouldn't be an MP you should probably argue for Malta and Ireland to be kicked out of the EU. Their stance on abortion isn't just a personal opinion, that is their countries policy and law.

no, true but i do know the totally inflexible hold Catholic beliefs have on some people in that Church and one of those people is Jacob going by the transcript of the interview. He would have to lapse to put his daughter first.

Probably safe on that one now with regards to any social policies.
