Chelsea seem intent on just spending whatever money to buy every player they can, most notably the favourite or high profile players at other clubs, and stockpiling them like Cold War ammunition.

Unless of course we are using 'Moneyball' as a reference to Chelsea just relying purely upon finance?

Yes, it is. Baseball produces hundreds of stats which when analysed using the metrics involved helps identify players whose aggregate contribution equals that of two or three expensive stars. Football isn't as good a fit for the system because it's harder to quantify what represents a key contribution.

In my opinion Gallagher only fitted PV’s tactics and I struggle to see where he would fit into our team with Lerma, Doucoure and Eze already in the team. He can’t play CF, he can’t play wide right or left and we know Eze is best centrally so you would therefore be moving Eze into the wrong position to fit him into the team. For me it just doesn’t work.

I would much rather have Madueke than Gallagher as part of the Olise deal.

Curious how football works, isn't it? Go back a year and how many would have picked Lerma over Gallagher? Based solely on the one game he looks a very good choice. If he can chip in with a few goals it'll be even better.

To be fair Teddy, I think lots of us have always thought Doucoure needed a Lerma type player next to him to take on some of the grunt work. Gallagher would have been too far advanced to fulfill that role.

I think it’s probably a case of Eze Vs Gallagher rather than Lerma Vs Gallagher hence why we don’t need him.

Sure, and I'd take Eze over any Gallagher from Conor to Liam.

The scum don't pay that sort of money for players, they usually buy low and sell high. However they might buck that on this occasion just to spite us.

Parish, he's Geuhi's best mate, and would probably jump at the chance to get back here with him. I know we don't need him but go get him to stop them wanchors having him, because you know what's going to happen when we play them. Put him in the stiffs,then sell him for a loss to Leyton Orient, anything.

If nothing else his situation does highlight the problem with player loyalty. He's always been clear about how he feels about Chelsea and is now seemingly being nudged aside. Players can be totally dedicated to a club but if they're not deemed good enough they're out.
Maybe, like Sakho, we saw the best from him on loan.

Just seen that there is talk on sky sports of chelsea selling Gallagher in January to free up funds for a striker. Hes a home grown player so kind of makes sense from an FFP perspective. As we are light in Midfield with Doucore injured, Id still like to see Connor back in a Palace shirt. Seen mixed opinions on here about him but he was wicked for us and has been one of Chelseas top performers. I just dont want to see West Ham get him. Anyone think this might be possible?

Not likely , because of the money involved, but beyond that even though Gallagher would improve us, he is not a one man team. If he was signed along side another really smart left side winger, as we were when he last put our shirt on we would have something going on with Olize, on the right.. it’s not likely though.

When I've seen Chelsea this season he's looked like one of their better players so it seems odd if they want rid. Better clubs than us will want him, we can't afford him, and his best position is already occupied by Eze. We could really do with right now.
