The thing is Gary, when did anyone receive confirmation of the managers job security, his preferred tactics, team selection and likely transfer targets before buying their season tickets? You don't know what you're getting, but such is the nature of the beast, always has been. As I replied to Kev64 “ some supporters stated they would not renew their season tickets if Roy was still the manager and his type of football” I don’t want to play the devils advocate here. But it’s also about the new stand, the board and of course what players are going to get new contracts or released.

I totally get it, but there just isn't a football club in history that published its strategy in advance for the benefit of prospective season ticket buyers. We all just have to either take the gamble and renew early, or take the risk and wait and see what happens.

I am in the Roy in camp until the end of the season, always have been. Some of the games have been mind numbingly bad, but there have been some good performances too. The thing is we are mid table on the highest number of points with a good few games to go and safe from the dreaded relegation. I’m sure peoples mindset will change once they can go to a live match and do the pub thing before and after the match.

Personally I'm slightly more Roy in than out, but can see the pros and cons either way.

If you leave it late to find out you’ll end up settling for seats they have left in a near full stadium. I think this season you can make a good call on what’s happening before 18th June and your seat goes on general sale on 24th June. A month after the end of the season after 2 months and 2 weeks of safety should be enough time to see what the board are going to do, especially with so many contracts expiring, including Roy’s.

It is a funny old business though. My in laws are West Ham season ticket holders, and (all joking aside) they know nothing about football. Nothing. But the brother in law made the point to me a few years ago that he felt it unreasonable for the club to ask him to renew his season ticket well in advance of knowing which players he would be watching for his money. At the time I added what he'd said to the body of evidence demonstrating how little he understood about football, but in fact he was spot on. You wouldn't buy a cinema ticket without knowing what film was on, but as football supporters we shell out months before the summer transfer window closes, making a sizable commitment to an unknown quantity. I suppose we're just used to it. Edited by TheBigToePunt (14 Mar 2021 10.47pm)

I just don’t want to be bored senseless with not a lot of chances, barely any action on the opposition goal, and no atmosphere because of that apart from an unnecessarily louder drum than previous and only a few fans singing. Maybe a goal every 2 or 3 home matches and maybe a shot on goal once a match. It’s not currently a spectator sport at selhurst.
