All sounds a little risky and self indulgent for a 29 year old and like many others on here I would prefer to see a younger man for that sort of money. Eagle in South Carolina.

If a smokescreen, would we be pleased if Slimani were to score against us today (assuming he will be playing ?)and perhaps swing Pards towards buying him over any other striker ? Do you think Slimani a better buy than Austin ?

For me, Slimani's the best option, Gestede is not proven at a high enough standard.

I am no detective but I reckon this move proves that Austin has indicated he doesn't want to come to palace. We are now moving to our plan B. His Dortmund state aren't great but if they were we'd be unable to purchase him. At Hertha Berlin he was immense. With our system a tall, quick, powerful striker will score goals.

I see him as the striker version of Cabaye. Made his name at a mid table European League team (Herther) (Newcastle). Was probably the best player in the team and then a big team comes along (Dortmund) (PSG) and he gets stuck on the bench and not playing to his full potential. I will be just as pleased as the signing of Cabaye.
