She has her problems, but is OUR friend. Think of no buffer/punch bag between Western Europe and the Middle East. That's frightening.

Don't get too misty eyed about the turks , they invaded Cyprus with the Russians egging them on. they are strategically placed for Putin in what is a NATO battlefront.

The Russians? Is that the latest theory? For years I thought the American's were considered responsible. Never mind that there was a coup headed by a mentally deranged man who edited a newspaper and boasted about how many Turk's he'd killed in the 60s.

With the Colonels in Athens egging on the Greek Cypriots to implement Enosis (Greek and Cypriot 'unification'). The Turks may have over-reacted but had cause to do so.

Anyway, Turkey have no particular love for Russia, historically or now. And they're probably only welcome in TRNC because of all the 'dirty money' they fritter away in the casinos.

I would rather see a Democratic theocracy, than a military dictatorship, if that's what the people want and vote for it.

Very good Have to remember though, in regard to respecting democracy, that the National Socialists swept into power fairly in 1933 in Germany with enough of a free vote too. Second referendum please.
