We are struggling at present for form so please just accept the win and move on! Great result COYP.

Exactly this, we have the chance to rebuild for all the time we remain in the premiership. If we were to get relegated one season god forbid, it could take 10 years of rebuild like it last time. Has everyone also forgotten how turgid it was at times in the championship! Except the win and move on!

I'm sorry, but although we won, that was turgid and dull and all the time we were 1-0 up, Mateta was never going to get his debut. In fact it was not working all the time Batshyuai was on the pitch, yet unless we were losing, Roy was never going to sub him. He did after we went in the lead, but only brought Townsend to shore up the game.

It was still beyond dull. Mateta will only end up making a few appearances from the bench this season if he is lucky. We are treading water under Hodgson.

WTF are you on about. Was never going to sub batshuayi but did sub him.

A win I didn't expect, and a very necessary one. But nothing's changed except we are three points closer to the 38. It's not a question of 'doom mongering' or 'never being satisfied'. The same problems remain. In the first half we looked like a collection of individuals who hadn't been introduced. Things looked much better when Riedewald came on and as has been said before, Luka's game improved then as well. I thought Eze distinctly ordinary until a great goal. Batshuayi was awful and subbed just in time.

It wasn’t a spectacle I agree and we all want to see a better standard of football, but we have 7 teams below us now. I wonder what the fans of those 7 teams are thinking right now?

They can’t be better than us or they wouldn’t be in that position.

Perhaps not that surprising considering the change in formation, but as you say we got better when Jairo came on and his presence did seem to help Luka. Also agree that Batshuayi wasn't up to much.

Eze was ok but no more than that, apart from his goal - not just his control and finish but the way he made space and urged Ayew to give him the ball. He's one of the few players we have who looks for the ball to be played to him and wants it. Jairo's another one who's happy to have it and lets that be known. Too many are just statues who only seem to come to life when the ball is played in their direction.

Yes, the old half full, half empty. Whenever I see us with another three points its a good day. We're very likely staying up, that's something, though yes there is much we need to build on and plenty of performances I didn't want to watch the first time let alone watch back!

So you would get rid of 2 out of 4 strikers! That’s good thinking. Totally agree about Jairo have been saying this for some time

Bats and Benteke might as well not be here for all they contribute, so yes, get rid. Also we have goal scorers in team - Zaha / Eze / Ayew / Schlupp (when fit) and new addition Mateta. We should be fine, as long aas they pick up the goals between them.

Why don't you read my comment properly. I clearly meant he was never going to sub Batshuayi for Mateta. I did say he took Batshuayi off, but only because he brought Townsend on to shore things up

Don't think anyone will need 38 points to stay up this season. Extremely unlikely any of current bottom 3 will get to 37. I reckon 34-35 points will still mean survival, potentially with some daylight to spare.

Bang on mate. Didn’t even have a look on here last night. Enjoyed a proper drink, a Saturday afternoon victory, nice takeaway tea for the family. Smile smile smile. Deal with the problems another day 😃

Maybe that's why there wasn't a shot on target at either end for 55 minutes? MoTD showed ALL the highlights of that game in 5 minutes later that evening.
You can still support Palace and say we consistently play some of the dreariest football in the PL ... I do!
