Wilf needs to go whether you support it or not. He no longer wants to be at the club and it shows in the way he's played this season. I've loved watching him play for us over the years and until this season I couldn't imagine life after Wilf, but this season he has been erasing my good memories with frustrating performances that lack heart and we've been left mostly with just the moaning Wilf. He is easily still the most talented player in the squad, but we need to cut the cord now unless we suddenly find the money to drastically improve our squad.

Ferguson, Pochettino, Klopp and others have recognised his talent and if he gets his head straight he can spend the next few years playing at the level he so desperately wants. If he goes to a club like Everton or Newcastle though he'll likely drift off into the pile of could-have-should-have wingers.

I think firstly, I completely agree with your sentiment.

I have the fear of the unknown at the moment, or a life without Zaha (acknowledging first season) but I think there is also the realisation that the 'perfect deal' may not come along such as Barcelona offering £80 million plus Lionel Messi.

He's not been the same this season, and we haven't been able to rely on him as we have previously so it is time for him to go and I think his performances this year have softened the blow for all.

My issue or concern at the moment is the squad needs boosting with but most certainly without Wilf and I have no trust that will happen in any case but it's a far worse situation if he leaves. At least N Ferguson is a start although even that is unfinished Jan business.

Before the lockdown Wilf was playing well and so was the rest of the team. The injury to him at Liverpool and the team selection that night, seem to have completely derailed us.

We have not been the same since that night, admittedly we have had a load of injuries and all in the defensive areas again. If we can just draw a line under this season and get some proper depth in our team with some less injury prone players to compliment what we have got then you will see Wilf shine again.

At the moment we are not seeing the best of him because of where we are at the moment. This isn’t a time to sell him in my opinion...

He's barely made it out of 3rd gear this season. Defensively has been excellent, offensively very average. Nobody above mid-table will buy him and nor will he want to go to this level of club, nor will the board accept a small offer when if he has half a good season next year he'll be back in the 50M bracket. It should have been his last season but as it stands, it wont be. In fact the longer this goes on the more likely he'll be here until he cant cut it in the prem...or we get relegated.

To be honest Wilf needs to go, he wants away keeping him will not do either him or the club a lot of good. Personally I feel a move abroad would be the best for him and will let him play in the CL as he is unlikely to get any of the top 4 in England. The only issue will be if our board will spend any on the money we get for him. As things stand they seem to have a closed wallet policy.

Um, If Wilf wanted away surely he would be endeavouring to play at his best. This would encourage teams to come sniffing. I say teams, this would put up his price which we want.
Wilf is not playing at his best I assume so that he lowers his value and thus someone comes in offers a price to Mr Parish which eventually he would accept as he is getting no value from Wilf.
My suggestion to Mr Parish, set your price reasonable or not, take nothing less. If Wilf disagrees and puts on his parts, suggest to Roy he does'nt play him until a solution is reached.

Good post,Wilf,s mind set is away from CP, he is not playing well and we are paying out huge salary each week so may as well cut our losses. His valuation is what we can get and certainly not 50mil plus as some are suggesting. Some reports suggest lucky if we get 30mil, whatever we get a slice has to got to MU. Just look at Sheffield U to see what smart spending and good loan deals can achieve!

It was the passing straight back to the passer that was annoying me. He didn’t have 2 or 3 people on him either. Plus keeping out of play in January in case someone wanted to buy him was obvious to anyone.
