The title of the thread isn’t true though is it! Their are plenty of players I thoroughly enjoy to watch and at times the play is excellent. We can’t forget how bad it used to be, we attended out of obligation and sheer loyalty.

Yes and yes. I have supported Palace all my life (I'm over 50) and this is the first time that the football has made me not want to attend. Just to clarify though, I don't entirely blame Roy. But I do a little bit.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Maybe an eld relegation battle this season might give some of our moaning fans a bit of excitement or reality check. Or both.

That seems impossible now - not sure exactly why.

For every Brighton, there are plenty of Leicesters, Leeds, Stokes, Portsmouths, Wigans etc... many clubs have gone thorough a boom and bust cycle. That we have not is a massive positive. The club has progressed, but we are up against outrageous expenditure from state backed organizations. The fact we can still try and compete with those clubs shows we have progressed. Yes we are short on quality in some areas of the pitch, but I have faith in SP and Dougie to find the right deals. We cannot spend ourselves into oblivion, either through massive transfer fees or blowing the salary scale. We must continue to live within our means, get the new stand built, and we will start to see the value of the training ground investment in coming years. Mid table EPL can be frustrating, especially on nights when you throw away a promising result against the 'lesser' teams like Luton, but we also have our days and good results against MANU, Liverpool etc. Roy is a gentleman, and I have utmost respect for him. The future is of course elsewhere, and we need to plan for that. But SP is not a fool; he knows this and will be working on it behind the scenes. I would much rather be were we are today, than 2 hours from liquidation. We should continue on our path. Edited by lagoseagle (02 Dec 2023 12.48pm)

Easy to get depressed given our recent run. What's worse is, it looks very much like there's more gloom to come. Football ceases to be boring when you can get goals. Not our strength for a long time. What worries me more is that after 10 years in the PL I'd have expected the club to have become wealthier. Maybe naive of me but we still seem poverty stricken with our stadium and lack of depth in good players. I realised without massive backing we'll never compete at the very highest level in terms of spending. I just hoped we'd be better off than we are.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Strange isn’t it, but after a terrible season, Stockport away last game survival 22 years ago is up there with my best palace memories, and even that game was crap but when Dougie put that ball in the net, for those of us who were there, it was like a winner in a cup final

Guess we are slightly spoilt by the last 10 years and expectations have risen. I don’t think we are far off being decent but have no faith we will recruit in Jan and expect us to just plod on. I don’t believe there is a certain way to play and actually enjoyed Pulis/BFS who are famed for being very functional. A couple of wins and everyone will feel better

Might be we had a Roy last season we had not seen before, he is no doubt a manager that can get players to punch above their weight we have investors that want out we have a chairman that wont spend his own money, so he is doing a very good job his problem was he excelled last season and the bugger raised our Hope's.
