The best thing to do with personnel departments is avoid them altogether.

You won’t find any ‘personnel’ departments these days so easily done.

When the HR or people function is good you’d be surprised what a difference it makes.

Seems you may have had a problem with them?

Well it appears at the time boris met her and asked if she wished to make a formal complaint. I will leave it there.....

He offered her the Party process. That was incorrect

He also said they couldn’t investigate without a formal complaint. That was incorrect, as is proven by the current action

Whilst I don’t know Ghani and whether she is trustworthy she was not only a Minister but also an Assistant Whip so presumably she was trusted.

The Chief Whip appears to have been cavalier one way or another. I suspect arrogance.

Types who wanted to lap up the contrived and heavily exaggerated anti antisemitism crisis in Labour laid the groundwork for the same to happen with Muslims in the conservative party. I'm surprised people didn't see this coming.

Of course individual cases should be viewed on their merits or otherwise, but in politics it's often a case of 'whatever works'. The pressure is on Boris and so the timing of things like this is clearly political.

The more concerning allegations and those involving basically threatening to punish a whole area if party members do not vote this way or that. No doubt that's 'realpolitik' but it can still be pushed to a point that is an insult to voters.

I like this post. But using religion is the nuclear option which is why I am surprised. Perhaps there’s a groundswell of dissatisfaction

I do think that any party in power this long gets very complacent and presumptive in terms of their rule. Perhaps treating the public like mugs (aka party season) extended to battering down anyone within the party who didn't follow edicts too.. and that when a few cracks develop in the leadership everyone with a gripe or grievance finally gets their say.

Correct.

Always have an 'out' with an employer.

Always keep your skills topped-up.

Be alert to the market.

Be self-employed or limited company, if you can.

Reasonable observations.

The whole whip system seems outdated....as does the physical need for a parliament building in some ways. Its future is as a museum in my view.

The political system is rife with self interest and should be subject to the same system analysis in the same way the market streamlines business...Why not most of them are careerists anyway....they think it's fine for the plebs so it should be fine for them.

Exactly. The is the main problem really. That they think they're above it all, and unfortunately more often than not they are right.

Ok, here's one for you, CP.

The Conservative minister in charge of Whitehall efficiency has resigned over the government’s “lamentable track record” in tackling fraud in Covid loan scheme.

Very good advice; unless security is what you need.
I don't mean guaranteed employment but more a guarantee of a job on Monday. Many like myself had the skills to go self employed but lacked the security what with a mortgage and dependants.
On the other hand taking a chance may have been MY best option but I didn't so not affluent but should be ok in later in life. Fingers crossed
