'I hope you will continue to challenge ill-founded arguments and muddled thinking and that you will never be afraid to speak the truth to those in power'.

Well I can't imagine anyone wanting
our people to not challenge muddled thinking or ill founded arguments - so not sure what the big deal is.

The hardcore Brexiteers in power don't. That's why they have pushed him. Because he dared to tell them what they didn't want to hear: the truth.

We have a cabal of right-wing tinpot dictators within Government, it appears.

Have you read the letter? He says he was due to leave at the end of the year and by going now his replacement will be in situ when Article 50 is triggered and that it would make no sense for his role to change hands later in the year.

Again, seems entirely reasonable to me.

Sir Ivan has seen correctly IMO that his future is to be blamed by Mrs.May and her gang of 4 he will be the scapegoat as no brexit will be satisfactory.

Better to get out and have a life.

The arrogance of hardline Brexiteers is astounding.

The man was trying to help the UK (and still is) by conveying the thoughts of other EU partners and he gets elbowed out of the way.

Was he balls Kermit.... he wanted to influence matters to pursue his own agenda for continuation of the single market which aint gonna happen!

"His future is to be blamed by Mrs May...."

What does that actually mean? It's just a nonsense sentence.

The Big Deal is that the govt. bullies its civil servants to do what they want without knowing what it is themselves - whatever the civil service negotiators do no matter how impossible the task they are there to take the blame and not the govt.
