Do you consider yourself "Machoman" too?

I consider myself a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

I don't have anything to prove to anyone, but I rather suspect that you do.

Engage with your criticism? I've answered all your points previously. You ignore them and just repeat the same stuff so I don't bother. It's funny that you accuse others of what you do yourself.

As for the use of the term, 'machoman' well that has been yours and you have used it to smear, which tends to suggest the rather feminized view you have of masculinity.

As for your family life....what you consider yourself is for you Fagin. If it's true that you are regarded as a good parent by generations of your children then great, though we only have your word for it.

However, your past commentary upon your passed parents on here (excepting the last one) hasn't been great. So that suggests that it isn't all harmony around you.

You think I feel I have something to prove? I'm not sure what, it's been a reasonably successful life considering where I started. I'm not a physical coward though and I don't moan about male traits and glorify female ones....Not that female traits aren't great, it's just that I prefer them on females.

In any case, I think we can agree that this relates to the meek. I'm glad they're getting something, they have a hell of a time.

If we playing semantics then the word 'meek' when used in this context is the cause of some discussion with regards to how it has been translated from the original Greek.

The word does not neccessarily mean how it is seen today in terms of almost a form of servility but rather more akin to refering to those with a quiet reserve/strength. A gentle tenacity. More to do with a determined resolve that does not have to loudly manifest itself.

You don't answer points! Unless they come from one of your fellow travellers when you are quite happy to join in a confirmation bias fest. It's not your style. Maybe you are so self-obsessed you don't even realise it. You misrepresent what people say and then attack them for what they didn't say.

My comments about my mother need to be seen in context. They are only made as direct personal evidence of how much society has moved on in its views on racial differences. Unfortunately, some have not moved on and seem to think we all need to go back. Which is why I make the remarks to you!

Oh, I think you have something to prove alright. It comes through in your comments time after time. Once again you may not even be aware of it.

Not being a coward and being macho are very different things. In the first you don't back down to bullies. In the second you are the bully. I don't back down, but I also don't confront. There is more than one way of handling a bully!

I accept people for what they are. It's another part of the ways society has moved forward. At 76 I am still learning and am not reliant on the attitudes I held in my youth.

You're just a waffle merchant, amongst other things.

You say I don't answer points, well, I do actually when they are put to me.

Ok Wisbech, make a specific point that you want me to answer....not long paragraphs of generalised waffle.

I'll answer whatever you want.

Semantics? Don’t think so. It was just a quote

But the alternative translation of Matthew 5.5 was ‘gentle‘, he could have used that as long as he said shall and not will.

You make the ridiculous point that the meaning matters less than the quote and here you are waffling about the very meanings of words.

The difference between 'will' and 'shall' are negligible, similar to 'meek' and 'gentle'.....As stated, if you are going to really be exact you go to the original Aramaic....Or for second hand the Koine Greek text...You concerning yourself with exactness over the English translation...which has undergone god knows how many versions is pretty limited.

Give it up Maple, you were caught in your own game of pedantry with your trousers down....and it's not an edifying sight.

But at least with you, these conversations have a hint of amusement within them.....arguing over bugger all can raise a smirk or two.

What a masculine back and forth. At least split hairs over weights routines rather than bible versus .

Some truth in that, although it's becoming less complex now. Mainly since the growing popularity of platforms like etoro and robinhood... the democratisation of stock investing has lead to more emotive, reactive swings based on day to day news rather than fundamentals. This will only increase as more and more plebs pile into click to buy stock platforms.

True true. Why do I get the feeling that it will be the new inexperienced investors left holding the next stock market timebomb?

There's nothing at all that I want to hear your opinion on. When I next make a point that you decide to comment on I will evaluate it in the context of your assertion. Or ignore it. I'll decide at the time.

It's probably advisable that Maple doesn't start lifting weights and putting on muscle....where he lives he'll need to run fast at some point.
