Saw them live at Glastonbury while I waited for Goldfrapp and the Chemical Brothers. I can only think the lead singer couldn't hear his own voice. Or his testicles had got twisted putting his trousers on.

Does Fatboy Slim count as a band? Not really but I'm putting him in too. His live show involves an old bloke who can't put his headphones on properly pressing play on a CD player. On that basis my dad's act is roughly the same. People say "yeah, well, the tunes he's released" but if you look at, for example, Right Here Right Now, there's virtually no part of that that he made himself. It's 3 or 4 samples put on top of each other. Well done you bald old Brighton supporting bell end.

I think the Mac are fab

I quite like a few of their ditties, same with Oasis & The Pistols. Just think that they happen to be massively overrated.

And a very nice bloke from my memory. Often used to stop his chauffeur-driven car on his way to the train station in Lewes when I thumbed a lift to school after having missed the school bus from out in the country where I lived during 6th form. Got to know the guy and spoke a lot about bands.
When my girlfriend was having her birthday party out in Hellingly I asked if Peter wanted to come and bring some friends - but not really thinking much about it. At the time the LZ lived and had a studio at Hellingly Manor. I also added that it was fancy dress do.
The next Saturday all was going fine - just afew of us and a record player, when there was a knock on the door. Peter Grant and the band turned up with wives/girlfriends and booze. All the women, I seem to remember were dressed as leopards or cats.
Crazy thing is, I didn't think much of it at the time

To be fair to Quentin, he has recorded under many guises and produced some great remixes and 'toons'.
Beats International were pretty good too.

I've always despised Def Leppard and never got their popularity.

Over produced soft metal crap, really winds me up when it comes on the Radio. It seems to blend in well with Bon Jovi, Starship and that kind of garb.

Amen. They did a couple of good ones but they are massively overrated. Musical taste is subjective. Some people probably like the sound of a dripping tap.

Ah, dear old heavy metal.

Iron Maiden fall into the same category as do ACDC and [believe it or not] Saxon. Enjoyed ironically by non-rural Britain, but in parts of the Continent, the US and Japan!

A mate was at a party hosted by the girlfriend of the [then] guitarist of Saxon. In the UK, he walks about in blessed [and deserved] anonymity. In Germany, each band member are assigned a team of close protection security guards!


The British have always had weird musical taste which are not in line with the wider world. Probably because Britain is populated by large numbers of musical snobs who look down their nose at certain musical genres to fall in line with a perceived convention within their peer group. Rock fans are just as bad it has to be said.
