On this point I agree with you wholeheartedly, none of us has the foggiest!

There are a couple of things that we know. We can pretty much guarantee he hasn't re-signed for us yet. I think we can also probably assume the offers Wilf really wanted haven't come in - like Arsenal, PSG, Barcelona etc. Just because he would sign if they were near our offer. I think we can assume too that he hasn't signed anything yet, as word would get out.
We have to assume he's either waiting, or deciding on what has been offered so far. And we can do so pretty safely when you think about it. What I've said is just common sense - not in the know.

For all anyone on here knows, he could've agreed with Parish 'I'm signing, but let's do it on 1st August and save the £1m (or whatever) that the agent would've got and split it 50/50'.

Literally zero point in slagging him off without knowing what's going on.

I think alot of rationale patient people think this too.

Perhaps this sentiment was posted earlier in this endless thread, but...

If Wilf had been a player for another team, say Brighton or West Ham or even Arsenal – and had had an identical career in terms of production, effort, availability, and skill – and he was now available on the open market, how much SHOULD Palace be offering him?

I realize that he's entitled to a "hometown bonus" for us because of his loyalty and contributions to Palace, but what do we think we might offer him if he HADN'T been such an important part of our history? [I'd offer that amount, plus 20-25% more.]

I don't think we're haters eagleman, we've just had enough of his disruptive behaviour and there is a strong view that his frequent petulance and ageing, injury prone body isn't worth an expensive, long term contract.

I agree with you there POG . Im not a hater , im just sick of all the will he wont he circus that follows him every season . , the disruptive behaviour and petulance , a statement wouldn't go astray if he wants to keep the fans happy but clearly doesn't . I just think for the money he is on there is better out there , younger and a bit of respect for the fans .

Are you having a laugh, he left us on our promotion season, and now nobody decent wants him on a free, he would be off like "s**t off a shovel" if right club had come in for him, and what about Joel Ward, maybe he should have a bonus

To be fair, the club were happy to sell and he wasn't pushing for that move.

But I think the current situation, albeit in the absence of any known facts, is ridiculous.

He wanted away for a long time now. We can’t be what he actually wants. If he comes back that’s how it is.

I think that’s about the size of it, this would’ve been done and dusted a long time ago if one of the big boys from any of the top five European divisions had made him an offer, but Turkey and Saudi is obviously not what he had in mind.

Good luck to him though, you’re a long time retired and if anyone’s earned the right to take their time and hold out for good offer somewhere he fancies then he has, he’s given us the best part of his career that’s for sure.

No he didn't, he signed for utd under the condition he remained on loan untill the end of season, then pretty much single handedly got us promoted and apart from Pulis is pretty much the only reason we've remained in this league.

Do you think any player is here because they want to be ? If a big club comes in for any of our players, their head is getting turned, the same if we go for any championship player or if no current player is good enough, they get sold, it's competitive sport at the highest level. Like any player dreams of playing for palace, wolves, Fulham, Brighton etc, they're here because of the strength of our league and the money we pay, tho mainly due to money hence the amount of players who are now heading to Saudi.

If any player deserves a bit of loyalty from the club then it's zaha. I've no doubt he would still be our most influential attacking player next season If he signed.

Of course he is….if it was your last payday wouldn’t you ?

The shocking thing is that he’s holding us to ransome and dictating our transfer plans….and we are happy to let him.
