I disagree, there is a quality that can transcend whether you like them or not. Take songs like Yesterday and Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles. I personally find the Beatles to be overrated, they're good, but overrated - But those two songs alone are massively original, well written and well structured compositions. I'd argue that the entire Revolver album is not only brilliant, but one of the most original albums of its era and a very brave release (considering they couldn't play any of it live). Also, I quite like a few overrated bands - nothing wrong with that. I like Kasabian and the Kings of Leon - but they're not as good as their 'status'.

i hate mumford and son. probably should take me out of the running since my ears bleed every time that stupid wait for you song comes on, which is seemingly all of the time. imagine only the most limited mind is enjoying it. same with the police - sting is such an arrogant prick and his music is boring as church music. my brother loves iron maiden but i thinkk pretty much every single song sounds exactly the same. do like the big eddy animatronics though - always like a good sideshow. i don't know how someone can say queen changed music, had one of the best front men ever, but then say they're over-rated. if a band actually changes music (for the better) in any way, probably not over-rated. anything that phil collins has ever touched is over-rated. horrid.

Queen. A few decent singalongs but completely overrated. I don't think Coldplay are rated by anyone so can't be included, likewise The Police.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Beatles released maybe two really good albums (Revolver and the White Album). Good, but definitely overrated, probably because of their popularity. Yuck, why do all "cool" people have to say the White Album is good. It has good stuff, but far too much indulgence. Too much track jumping required to make it a classic. A band in disintegration and it shows. Pepper, Soul, Abbey Rd, Magical Mystery and even Hard Days are all better.
