In the same way we are entitled to expect a professional footballer to be able to kick a ball, it's not unreasonable to expect a professional commentator to enunciate.

The general consensus seemed to agree with me and the OP literally called Henry “just an arrogant bully” who was not world class..I mean does that not sound like a twisted bitter opinion of someone who’s just out to hate..all I did was suggest he’s chasing the dragon as in a smack head...was not overly aggressive but did list attributes as to back up my reasoning that Henry was as good as everyone said he was... But I’m just a troublemaker aren’t I haha doesn’t matter if the original post was inflammatory and aggressive or not I was there to start trouble ok mate Someone please tell me what was so inflammatory or outrageous about my first comment on this post to have someone draw his sword at me and tell me my opinion was invalid and disgraceful just because I dared to suggest black players might have a difference experience..is the the English football lads alliance page am I on the wrong forum or what? I know there are a few Yaxley-Lennon minions on here but cor blimey I didn’t realise they were so sensitive and fragile The pack mentality I’m seeing on this forum is really infantile yet unsurprising as there is safety in numbers and the internet is a safe space for people with strong outdated convictions that lack substance- daily mail readers etc And just to let you know I’ve been reading this forum for around ten years probably a bit more so not new here at all and been watching palace since my first game at selhurst millwall 1994 I was there at Leicester Claridge I was there when hopkin curled one I was there for Lombardo and at Sasha curcic’s protests I was at Liverpool in the league cup featuring Julian grey etc...I was standing on the advertising boards at Stockport when dougie scored and he ran to me to celebrate and hence been there at too many poignant moments over the last twenty years than I could mention..I even walked for an hour and a half to see Trevor Francis punch kolinko in his nose on a cold Tuesday night against Bradford..I’ve got stripes and pedigree and hundreds and hundreds of games on the holmesdale and Arthur wait so I’ve got every right to be here as much as anyone before you question my position again sorry for turning up and having an opinion maybe I’ll just keep it to myself and let the old timers talk trash about whatever they like unchallenged...proper sad little community good post - For accuracy it was Julian Gray. The Francis punch was early in the season, so probably not that cold. Just saying, not having a go. Edited by palace99 (10 Aug 2021 4.22pm)

Quite impressive how quickly this thread has managed to move onto the topic of Janet Street Porter... To have an idea of the extent to which race plays a factor, you'd need access to applicant lists which neither those claiming race is a factor nor those denouncing it have. However, I think it would be fair to say that a black player may be less likely to take their badges if the black players who took them 5 years before them aren't getting jobs, which creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. I wouldn't say any issue is due to racists running football clubs, more a long running perpetuation of 'I need a safe manager who has experience - what are Allardyce, Warnock, Hodgson etc. doing?'. The Rooney Rule may break that way of thinking, maybe something else would. I don't think Palace can be accused of having an issue here. There's a good chance we'll have a black manager put out a team of 10 black outfield players at some point this year. Jairo Eze Schlupp Ayew Benteke Zaha That's without Olise, Mateta, Ferguson, and many of the academy.

You get jobs on merit, and if you are a winner, you will definitely get a chance. Did anyone notice how keen Twitter were to tell that most of the racist tweets during the Euros came from England?

Did anyone notice how keen Twitter were to tell that most of the racist tweets during the Euros came from England? Exactly this, they make up 3% of the population yet I think 40% of Premier league footballers are black, they are hugely overrepresented in football but it's a competitive sport, they get there on merit so I've got no problem, every match on tv now always has a black pundit, again no problem but like my south American friend says, they've been hugely influential in our league, where is the outcry for more representation of South Americans on punditry, apart from poyet who you see every now and then I can't think of any other.

Regarding Sol, I would advise that Sol tries maybe to join the likes of PV training staff or equivalent to get back into the game ? Good luck to him .
