Thanks for this. It would seem impossible to second guess the amount, although Palace’s original bid may push more compensation West Brom’s way

I agree that it is impossible to second guess however the original bid should have little effect because of the injury. There is no guarantee he is over injury and WBA were playing him with injury at time so this may effect his future injury record. I think they will go for a low figure with lots of add-ons based on future appearences and progress

There are quite a few drama queens on here. We have signed a player already with more being negotiated, what’s the problem.

The problems are the performance of the squad in recent weeks, the lack of depth, the average age, and the club's recent track record of buying late and poorly such that these 'negotiations' tend to go elsewhere (Saint-Maximin, Bowen..).

I don't think anyone on here would like anything other than to be proven wrong. We're just expecting to hear Niasse on a free because a 30+ release is what we've become accustomed to.

The club has known we are were all but safe for 5 months and mathematically for 2 months - a knowledge advantage over the majority of clubs - and don't appear to have done a lot with it.

We often don't start well - the later we buy, the later we get going and I'm not sure we can afford to write off games to a slow start this season.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

It does seem to me that (thank you Dazza) the club knows who it wants in the squad, at least as far as Eze and Nelson is concerned. It probably also has fallbacks if neither of these materialise. I am sure it would like as many of its intended signings to come in during the preseason training. But there is tough competition for all our signings and nothing is cast in stone . I take on trust that the club knows we will struggle if we don't get three or four new signings in, so let's wish them the best of luck in a highly competitive market.

Thats what makes this board so interesting. I feel you are basing your optimism on pure blind faith while I base my pessimism on the presented evidence of the last several transfer windows.

Its all fun and games.

The transfer window closes on the 5th October.

There’s a long way to go yet.

I'm so Palace I don't even know it

True! But don't forget - we're Palace and we seem to do things differently.

Having said that, it may be that our targets were away and would only come back if the deals were actually ready and all they needed to do was have a medical and sign.

The situation seems to be that clubs are struggling to identify what the market price for players is today. I suspect some of the early deals done will prove to have been overpriced.

I think it fair to say most would be overjoyed if the Eze deal got done a couple of weeks ago, Fraser accepted the contract, Watkins/Edouard had signed and we were actively pursuing a few more targets.

I think it also fair to say that is unrealistic.

I'm not sure if I am shocked or impressed by some of the optimism on here but I would say I am impressed if some are just holding their nerve well.

I am trying very hard not to become too despondent although I cannot shake the remembrance of recent windows shutting without us not getting even the most basic of necessities in. I don't buy the 'we just couldn't get the deal done etc' line as whoever's job it is to get players in overcoming those obstacles is part of it, if you can't do that you've failed. Problem this time round is it will most likely be far more disastrous than others.

We've still got two more months left so I will try to keep a level head for now although the longer we go without improvements the more outrage and anger I predict!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hey they’ve been trying new excuses out lately like our striker target who was signed sealed and delivered in November has done his acl but since has moved to a different club and let’s not forget the ferguson thing where they managed to find a career threatening knee problem literally minutes before we signed him in jan

Quite possibly the most condescending post I've ever read on here... Sorry Mr Mapletree Sir!! Made me laugh though!

I had a giggle at it as well, the hypocrisy is astounding. Maple and WE are fast becoming the Chuckle brothers of HOL ( although nowhere near as funny)

Looks like Zara's departure has moved on a tad? Which should have a knock on effect on inward transfers?
