It's very dangerous to use stats like this. The same sort of stats will tell you that despite being in a minority, black people commit far more crime. You could also produce figures that show that conviction rates and severity of punishment is higher for black men. None of this solves the practical problems. I'd say the over riding issue is guns themselves. I'd say it's poverty and propensity by the police to shoot black people.

For those interested in the more nuanced aspects of this problem, these are worth a look: Note who gets killed by whom, and in what numbers. As President Obama pointed out last week: many of the police shootings of young black men occur in communities awash with guns and crime. He did not point out that if you are poor (white, black, hispanic, etc.,) you are far more likely to be a victim of violence, than if you are not. Edited by NickinOX (11 Jul 2016 5.29pm)

The problem we have is Black Americans are committing far more crime than any other racial group. You're 200 x more likely to be a victim of aggravated assault by a black male in America than you are any other racial group. A while back in NY black people were complaining that after dark, taxis wouldn't stop for them. A representative of taxi drivers released stats from the government that showed you were 38x more likely to be robbed by a black male than any other racial group. The odds of a black male being killed by a police officer are minuscule... So tiny it doesn't even carry a risk. You are far more likely to be killed by a fellow black male. It seems to me, BLM are outraged when a tiny amount of blacks are killed by whites, but don't seem to care about the 1000's killed by fellow black males each year. If Black lives matter, then they matter who ever is doing the killing.

One theory is he was reaching to get rid of the gun when it came in to view, he was on probation and being arrested in possession of a illegal firearm = jail time.

The fact is that very wealthy and powerful people promoting Black activism would like us to focus on these kind of headlines rather than the huge social problems in black communities. So talking about white policeman killing black suspects really is only a tiny bit of the story.

All races should be protesting about the killing of Tyshawn Lee. Not violent thugs (or child sex offenders) killed because they live criminal lifestyles and guess what... If you do that... You increase your chances of being shot by police
