I'm wondering how much truth there was in the 4 year contract or £200,000. Perhaps the truth was nowhere near that

It always sounded like a nonsense to me and defied economic logic, let alone dressing room togetherness and the issue of player fitness. The whole saga is baffling, none more so then the unveiling of the mural at a time when a star player is leaving, or is he staying? Oh, he's gone? Well how about that. No farewells, no well wishers, no balloons and no party.

Sad he's gone, hope he smashes it up at Gala, relieved we never paid the purported sums. I'll be cheering him on when he plays for them.

Sky sports are reporting a £2m signing on fee and just £72k a week contract. So Wilf has nearly halved what he was getting paid, let alone what we were potentially willing to pay him.

My only take from that, is that Wilf really was desperate to play for a club in the Champions League.

At least he did send a farewell message to all his supporters at Palace:

Agreed. If he went to any of the otherEuropean clubs he would likely be part of a squad rotation system and not be first choice. At Gala he should be on the team sheet without question and therefore hopefully playing CL football.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Were we? Unlikely.

Also whist the Turkish club may be paying him 72k, might there be some entity in the background supplementing it? Who knows what goes on behind closed doors?

He was never in it for the money,or at least that was never his primary motivation. He gave a fair bit of his wages to charities in the UK and Ivory Coast, he just didn't bang on about it.

Perhaps one or two on here who labelled Zaha greedy will review their position.

Agreed. Wilf doesn't need the money but he's desperate to play CL football and (I suspect) wants to finish his career with a domestic trophy or three. Can't blame him for that.
