I don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere in this thread but a few weeks ago a Villa fan told me that Beneteke's agent, Kismet Eris, is a really sh1tty person to deal with and a reptation for being one of the worst around. I cannot believe Benteke or LFC (Klopp to be precise) will be happy with Benteke staying at Liverpool. He has no chance of playing and Klopp will ostracise more to get the message across. He'll be leaving Liverpool and I think it will be in this window. Question is where to? If the CB deal is off at the moment (we don't know if it is off), we need to advance with other targets and if CB is on again, it's on again. If not, there's nothing much we can do.

Guys, this saga is a nightmare. Firstly SP will have all the angles covered as he loves Palace as much as we do. If Benteke does sign then it will be right for the club that I am sure of. If he doesn't come then AP & SP will get in a good alternative of that I am also sure. So lets keep everything crossed and hope for the correct outcome in 2010 I trust!!

You claim that we will be paying "over the odds" and that the correct figure should be £24m or £25m but how do you arrive at that figure? I have no objection to the player and his agent keeping us waiting to see if any better offers come along as long as we are doing the same and seeing if we can come up with a "better" alternative too

Yea I'd say 24 or 25m. His value will have dropped due to 'failing' at LFC and now out of favour and unlikely to be selected. But his value goes back up again because all transfers have increased. Bolasie (top end valuation), Gayle, everyone. At first it was a shock but if you look at it from that angle, which Parish probably has, it's to be expected.

I'm slightly staggered at the level of impatience exhibited here and that, staggeringly, people seem to be suggesting that we have better options available! It would appear that the efficient manner in which we secured the first three signings has backfired slightly in that people are now not willing to wait a couple of weeks for this one, potentially the largest in our history. As the Football365 article above points out, not only is his goalscoring record in the Premier League exemplary but he would suit our style perfectly. It is grossly unfair to sum him up on last season when he is one of the 5 highest scoring players in the league over a 4 season period. There are plenty of ongoing transfer sagas that have been rumbling on for far longer than this one and I would suggest that if there is still a genuine chance of signing him, we should go all out as he could well be worth 15-20 goals a season to us.
