I think in today's day and age Paddy would be played by Idris Elba, Steve would be played by Lizzo and Sam Smith would play a turnstile. And what an insufferable turnstile it would be. More irritating than that one at West Ham that delayed the match half an hour.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

If Roy and Ray continue to motivate the team the way they appear to be doing it would be madness to change a winning formula. That is provided he wants another season. He may want to leave on a high and I wouldnt blame him. Managing and organising a bunch of overpaid footballers cannot be easy but he has got them all playing well with smiles on their faces and there seems to be a new freedom and confidence for them to get forward and press and attack. I suspect they wernt happy with the way PV set them up and that was reflected in our poor results and performances. We may have survived under PV .. we will never know but I am loving this new regeneration with Roy and Ray at the helm.

I was happy when Roy left a couple of seasons ago as it seemed the right time for him to go while acknowledging that he had done some excellent work in his first couple of seasons. Roy has demonstrated he is not a one trick pony playing deep and hitting teams on the counter.

Totally agree with this Absolutely agree. Roy for me a pragmatic manager which meant keeping a limited team in the PL but thus far has looked to exploit, as best possible, the greater and more expansive talent at hand. I firmly believe that alongside a clam, experienced, paternal arm around the shoulder is all this group needs to perform at the level it is capable of. All things Vieira seemed lacking in. As with any or many managers, there may come a time when a change is needed and this will not last forever more, however for the time being, it looks to not only be the answer we needed but ultimately the absolute correct decision from the board. We looked to be in very serious trouble and that fear has completely vanished for now.

Totally agree with this I totally disagree, much as I love Roy, he’s obviously had the luxury of playing poor, out of form teams. I know we’ll never know for sure and everyone sees it one way or the other, but imo PV would have comfortably kept us up as well. Roy’s not getting more out of our attacking players, they’ve just suddenly developed the freedom to have a go because of the quality of opposition, simple as that.

From all the games I saw, which was most , it wasn’t the same team not even close. Rumours of PV going missing, his general behaviour and players discontent too. Whether he would keep us up or not anyone’s guess but we set a record vs Leicester ( I think) for attempts in one half, something like that, not long where under PV we failed to register a single shot on target for multiple games. Having seen most these matches, it did not look like the same team just playing better or worse opposition. Something was seriously unwell before and whether it’s Roy’s coming, PV’s departure or a combination of both, it had to happen and we look entirely different. Something was well and truly rotten in the state of Norwood.
