GB says he's very optimistic and hoping something will happen in a couple of days, also said he was 80% sure Davids will be coming !!!!!!

That's disgusting.

Have to say I'm worried by this, we have only just come out of administration our finances must still be a bit dodgy. Do we want to spend the kind of money he will demand? I think caution is the name of the game not rushing headlong into spending money we may not have.

Just shows what a good name George Burley must have in football, and by playing attractive football, he can attract players like this to at least talk to the club.. Could you imagine Davids entertaining the idea of playing for palace under warnock!!

Either way, it shows Palace are definately back on their feet!

Warnock didn't need gimmicks!

A)He is unattached B)It is common knowledge he just wants to play football again and isnt worried about the money.

I don't see how we can lose from signing him, even he turns out to be crap. The knowledge and experience he can pass onto a young squad could be invaluable.

I honestly dont think thats an issue. On a pay-as-you-play he wont command too much and just having his presence at the club for the youngsters will be priceless.

Man alive. If you go back through the thread (granted, it's a long one now) it has been made clear that Davids has said he's not in it for the cash - just wants to live in London as part of a change of lifestyle. Hasn't bothered to get a club for a couple of years, so clearly isn't desparate for cash.

Rumour is we're offering a pay-as-you-play deal. This will not bankrupt us by any means - CPFC2010 have made it clear we will not be breaking our budget for anyone.

Crikey.

I honestly thought this would fizzle out but it seems now to be an incredibly realistic possibility.

I do hope he is up to it (Davids).
He has always looked the type of player who gives it his all. Just hope he has a bit still in the tank !

If it comes off could be a good marketing move.
It would add to the gate attendence - Just imagine all the Davids shirt sales - educate the youngsters.
- and give the club a very experienced midfielder as well.
