It was great, but it is history.

I had just turned 12 and was in birthday mode, I was watching the game on the box at the time and I was a Liverpool supporter, in the loosest possible terms (red was my favourite colour).

I'm a proud Bristolian who grew up playing rugby and to be honest I thought football was sh*t (I'd been to watch Bristol City several times with my step Father). Just starting secondary school I thought I'd give the beautiful game another go as to fit in with the other kids.

I am so glad I did, what a beautiful game it was! I always had a thing for the underdog, hence the reason I loose so much money down the bookies! This game was responsible for me falling in love with the beautiful game and my beloved Crystal Palace.

And I find myself here, what a lovely if somewhat scary at times ride it's been.

Red is still my favourite colour but it looks much better with a bit of blue - Come on you Eagles. Xx

Did anyone else come home on the Special Train. I can just remember how quiet it was on the train. No celebrating? I think we were all in shock! Made up for it after though, but mentally draining on the day.

I listened to the whole game on the phone via the BBC commentary in a mates house in San Francisco.

I was at the game and also the 9-0 from Liverpool.
I remember that, although it sounds stupid, the 9-0 was a right laugh. (But probably not for Perry Suckling).
We started cheering every Liverpool and Palace pass and we really couldn't see the penalty miss we had as we were so far away. I think Thomas missed it!
After the match we hung around for at least 20 minutes singing "we're going to score in a minute". Everyone was laughing and happy - kind of puts the scunthorpe result into perspective in a way, although they are no Liverpool.
I was a teenager at the time and relatively boisterous (am bad enough now!). I remember at the cup game massive Palace fans lifting me up above their heads when we scored, which was pretty scary as the Villa ground is so steep anyway. I was still nearly 6 foot and 12 stone in those days so no rag-doll!
The balloons were a right laugh as well, quite a few people were crap at blowing them up! Reminds me of that beach ball Sunderland thing last season.

Well, those were the days, pure nostalgia, I think they must be Palace's best times so far - and I was privileged to be there.
Come on Palace-let's not wait long for the good times to come again please!

I was at a family lunch I could not get out of.

Had to keep running to the car to hear the score. The reception was rubbish, as I was in the Lakes.

Was so gutted to be hemmed in when all I wanted was to go mad!

Martin
