I saw Leeds play at Selhurst Park, I think it must have been this game, got there after the start as the crowds were enormous. I left for Aus in 1966 and saw the great Leeds team play at Selhurst Park.
There was the little inside forward, Johnny Giles playing and their goalkeeper was who, a Welshman, a bit unpredictable, began with an S I think. Bloody hell, a long time ago, over 45 years.
I didn't watch the Pathe News clip, it took an etenity to load, I gave up.

It was Gary Sprake - I was at the game but don't remeber too much about it (probably because we lost) but the earlier rounds were also memorable. I remeber going to Southampton where we won 2-1 then a great game beating Forest 3-1 at Selhurst.

I think we beat Forest in the previous round 3-1, i didn't get in for the Leeds game after waiting in line for four hours for a ticket.

I went. I well remember queuing up on a Sunday morning to get tickets for the game.

We beat Bury 5-1 at home in round 3 (I think Brian Wood broke his leg in that match) and as correctly pointed out in earlier postings we beat Southampton 2-1 (away) and then Forest (then in Div1) 3-1 at home.

The Leeds match was postponed from its originally scheduled Saturday date due to adverse weather. It then became a mid-week floodlit fixture. After the euphoria of beating Forest we came down to earth with a bump against Leeds. Although it was their first season in the top flight after promotion the year before they were already a formidable side and ended 64-65 as runners up in both the league and FA Cup. So, no shame in losing to them.

Highlights of the match can be seen in the official Palace centenary DVD that came out in 2005.

I believe I still have the programmes for all of those games.
