On a seperate note but linked to my original post I notice that Crystal Palace have announched a big investment in their academy, a positive thing. All this brought about by the EPPP introduction.
I recall that Palace fans were very critical of the EPPP at its beginning believing that there best players would be easily 'poached' on the cheap from the big clubs. Are Palace fans now supportive of the EPPP?

Bit of a mixed view really people could call us hypcritical but the saying is if you can't beat them join them! Right?

i am to a certain degree..it will protect our players as much as anything.....but I don,t agree with the principal of it.

Just a question, and I dont know the answer. How many players have ever been 'taken' from Crystal Palace? I mean in terms of its youth academy?
Since the start of the year the EPPP has allowed bigger clubs to more easily buy youth players from smaller clubs but have yet to see any evidence of this occurring, so am wondering if its a false concern?

I think that if its in place you have to go along with it. The point is its caused a big injection of cash in to your academy and others which can only be a good thing for all involved. Academies in many clubs have been neglected now that cant happen. Surely thats positive?

Its ok been called worse on here LOL. If I am honest the EPPP is just what many said it was.
1/ A charter for the bigger clubs to get bigger and get the best players more easily
2/ A mechanism to force 'smaller' clubs to invest more heavily in their own academies or risk losing their prized assets
3/ A programme of development that is of benefit to youth development in this country.

Palace is as big,if not bigger as many Premiership clubs and think that if done rightly your academy will only benefit from the EPPP. Clubs can go one or two ways. Embrace it and invest or dont and risk being swallowed up. You are doing the right thing!

Hello Chelski. We had John Bostock "nicked" from us by Spuds(there are links to this on here,we've prob had more players nicked under administration). We've had a decent academy now for approx 10 or so years thanks to Simon Jordan and the £5M investment from a Palace fan should keep us going for another 5 years. Some points of The EEEP need ironing-out.EG: any clubs representatives/scouts can gate-crash any training session without prior notice; That we now have to give promising youngsters contracts at earlier ages than previously;in the best interest for future England internationals(yeah right!) There always has been a natural "pecking order" that filtered through the leagues,Chelsea buy Palace player,Palace buy Coventry player,Cov buy Gillingham(my real team LOL)Gills buy Br1ght0n .....So if the bigger clubs poach a Palace youngster for next to nothing then the "food chain" is virtually stopped. Please feel free to correct me if all blolokcs. Also blackmailing clubs into accepting The EEEP by giving "cash" and threatening to withdraw it to those who don't. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

chelski, I think you're turning into a closet Palace fan. Your first gloating posts made you look a bit of a billy big bollocks but now you've come over all reasonable I'm beginning to dislike you less.

Stay for a bit longer and I might end up actually liking you

Ya right there Seth. I've just given a reasoned reply(whether right or wrong is another matter)to one of his questions without a hint of sarsasm( apart from The Gills bit).If he carries on in this vein I'm gonna win that ticket to see Chelsea!!! Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Personally if palace do go up I hope it's just for a season, nick the75 mill and get back in the championship, build for the future ala wba. After 45 Yeats watching palace I know where my best times have been.

So you'd want us to lose every week? There's no reason why we can't do a Stoke, Sunderland, or Wigan? They're all clubs who were once in the Championship and in Stoke and Wigan's case they came from lower divisions, and Stoke and Wigan are starting to become established...

Dont think i said that did i ? Read my post again, digest it and come back with a sensible response . No wonder Chelski is still here, he is loving posters like you.

You'll be pleased to know i read the EPPP document (yes i am that sad LOL)
You are right on most things- Pecking order, 'blackmailing' of clubs, earlier and longer contracts to younger players to ensure a good return if they leave.
However, a slight correction on clubs just turning up at your training ground. They can only come to matches and they have to give prior notice (not that that makes a lot of difference).

I can see how the clubs in the lower pecking order would feel although to be honest there has been a lot of big club buy small club players for years. My points were that I am not sure how many youth players have actually left Palace for say Chelsea or Arsenal etc in the last decade? Additionally, the main point I have in favour of the EPPP is that its forcing clubs to invest in their youth to achieve a cat 1 or 2 status. This can only benefit all clubs. I know you said Jordan invested money but when Palace went up to the prem where did all the money go?? It seems it went on buying players and paying their wages to try stay up? Or am i wrong?
