This blogger is smug about his team's "beautiful football", but he shows his ignorance of the basic concept of the Premier League right now.
His team had two excellent players CPFC couldn't hang onto, Fonte and Clyne. Last match we had to deal with Routledge, ex CPFC. Soon it will be Cardiff and Zaha etc etc.
It's almost impossible for us lower clubs to hang on these game-changing players. Money rules (and dodgy money at that), and Lallana and Shaw will be gone from Southampton as soon as Moyes and the rest of the top 6 Mafia can get their act together.
Then Saints will be defending as deep as we do. Ha ha.

Southampton scored once, and we provided the assist. They're an excellent attacking team, with some real threats, and most of our performance was taken up with restricting that threat.

Were we bad, I don't know, because I skipped the game (Real life) but against a lot of team we've been labelled as poor, but got good results, when maybe we'd have expected to get stuffed. Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are notorious for putting the 'little clubs' to the sword, but we've avoided being thrashed out right, and barring two games have been in it well into the second half.

And that takes a lot of competence and ability. Sure we're not a great attacking threat or team, but our defensive capability is monumental, and thats why were not bottom of the league. We don't score many, but we don't conceed that many either.

I think we're a lot better than some people give us credit for. We stiffle and shut down teams, and that p*sses them off, and it angers our fans because we aren't 'exciting, flashy like those other clubs'. If we were, we'd be bottom struggling to get above 11 points. Holloway tried to play them 'at their game' and we suffered.

But the only reason we're not bottom of the league is because we're as miserily in front of goal, as we are in giving them away.

Completely agree with this. What about the anti football Southampton were allowed to play by the ref some contentious fails going on. Plus the red that never was. i really didnt think they were that much better than us. They certainly didn't wipe the floor with us as Swansea or Newcastle did when we play them at Selhurst. And isn't the Metro a London paper not a national paper?

oh and lets not forget the dreadful linesmen. I know we didn't play particularly well, but neither did they by any stretch of the imagination.

And I agree with the other poster, if it wasn't because of some horrible circumstances we would be fielding a much stronger team from our very own youth set up.
