For all those who voted UKIP, I'd say it was pretty much mission accomplished. They've served their purpose.

AS far as The EU goes it seems that way but there are many other issues that need some pressure. You can't trust the Tories or Labour to do anything about immigration numbers for example, without the threat of a third party gnawing away at their votes.

Thousands of people who previously voted UKIP will now vote Tory - they are assured of even more votes than they could expect with such a useless opposition.

As a voter of UKIP for 10 years or so, I can see them disappearing now and I'm not too bothered. At best for them, they need a rebrand to focus the public eye on them as a voice for the common working person rather than specifically the disillusioned patriot. I personally think the name needs to change for that, and quite possibly they could win some more support by disassociating with Farage. Personally I love Farage but he's become a convenient punch bag for people that dislike hearing anything that isn't about kittens and lollipops and with his face still so commonly linked with the party name they'll not be able to win over voters that are pre-prejudiced.

With Banks withdrawing his funding and a large amount of in-fighting that will take a while to fix, I can see them going back to where they were some time ago. There is also talk of Banks launching a new party which may also draw some of UKIP's current support away.

I agree with Hedgehog, I think a lot of UKIP voters will go over to Conservative (I am toying with it myself) especially if Theresa May delivers the Brexit they were hoping for. UKIP and Tory are by no means the same party (although the Conservatives do seem to be recognising that a lot of the historic UKIP policies are enticing to a nation that voted around 50:50 for Brexit) but for me, once you remove the Leave EU aspect from UKIP I'm not left with enough to vote for them instead of (in my own personal opinion) the "lesser of three evils".

Amicably with whom? I'll bet that he hasn't consulted his constituents to see whether they want to be represented by an independent MP

I'd argue that we'd all be better served by independent MP's that party MP's.

Well you'd think they'd be more interested in more than 'ok the UK is leaving the EU' before calling it a day. Then again the dust had barely settled and the UKIP were making sure they didn't actually have to do anything except get an exit vote.

Reminds me of project managers, who do 'f**k all but sound good for a year' then move onto new projects to avoid dealing with the fallout they created.
