Tricky one this. I am not happy with the outcome of the election and believe it is a democratic right for people to protest in order to focus on certain issues. I do not believe that rioting and desecrating war memorials will achieve that aim. Likewise, when a black man dies in police custody something wrong has happened. There is a democratic right for people to express their views in order to encourage a change of police practise and procedure etc. There is no democratic right to use the unlawful death at police hands of an innocent man to smash shop windows and steal plasma tellies, I-phones and sports wear. I think the word I am looking for is hijacking.

Maybe their real angst is they don't have a party that represents them? The fact that people in the Labour party are cut from the same cloth and just have modern liberal ideals. If there is such great disillusionment Why doesn't a new socialist party evolve that fights for jobs, minimum wage, social housing, Education, student rights and fees, benefits. everyday Things that resonate with poor, ordinary people? Instead they get the Labour party. That's what they should fight for rather than the boring 'tories out' cliche Because of the cost of campaigning in rigged elections, where 7.7% of the vote returns 8 seats, 12% returns 1 seat, and a 6% difference means a difference of other 100 seats. Anyone who thinks the British system is really democratic, fair, impartial and representative of the people is deluded. Wasn't there a referendum on keeping it or changing to PR only 18months or so ago...seems perfectly democratic to me

Everyone has a right to protest, and I'm glad a lot of the protesters seemed young as at least it shows that some youngsters have an interest in political issues. The desecration of the war memorial is disgusting. No if's or buts.

True and as highlighted before the campaign to kill it off was deplorable.

Questions for lefties among us. Why is there never any riots when Labour win an election? Why did the trustafarians riot when no such cuts to welfare have been sanctioned or passed through the house? Why wasnt there the same criticism of the electoral system last time Labour won ? And finally has anyone got a picture of Ed Ball's face when he heard he had lost his seat, just for my own amusement.

Someone brought up PR and I'm highlighting how it's a cross party issue. I know talking about aspects of commonality isn't popular here, but I presented facts and people can make of them what they will.
