Whilst I agree with Cameron that each should pay their way and whilst feckless striking b******s, lets for no reason say teachers, should be f***ing glad for their lot, I am proud to be patriotic and I am totally against abolishing the licence fee. I, as a British patriot, am proud of the BBC, not just its content that itnprovides me (mainly Test Match Special, podcasts and comedy) but the fact that the BBC has such an important role in the World. I have been told by people in Vietnam and Myanmar that they learnt English through the BBC and are grateful for it.

Therefore, I am happy to continue to pay the licence fee. I think it is value for money and should be continued.

It's not perfect but I'd be sad to see it become advertising driven or a shadow of its former self. They launched BBC Store just the other day so I can't help but think they fear a day without the license fee is nearing.

In their eyes (the BBC) milking the teat of absolute s***e, like Eastenders, for 30 f***ing years is some sort of achievement. And I suppose, after getting away with rehashing tired storylines for the 15th time, in some way, it is.

Could be worse, though. Like ITV they could grow some weird fetish for period drama's.

It's easy to underestimate the national and global reach of the BBC. For me it'd be like getting rid of the royals if it went.

I'd spend £100 a year just to keep the website and double the current fee if there were threats to rival ITV in the period drama stakes!

Seems it's extremely easy to overestimate global reach, particularly where the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's are concerned. But that's a subject for another day

The BBC used to be something the UK could be proud of. Not any more. Most of it's TV output has been dumbed down considerably, and sometimes becomes an embarrassment. Eastenders, Russell Brand and Charlotte Church on Question Time, the obsession with being PC. The BBC's Diamond Jubilee coverage was an example of how low their standards had become.

If the Beeb became less pro-eu, less pro-immigration, less leftist, less blatantly PC, less reliant on the Guardian for journalistic input, and became much more impartial, then I would be more bothered about abolishing the licence fee.

Last night was an embarrassment, defending Corbyn to the hilt and attacking the Sun Newspaper.

Not even subtle about it anymore

The Left think that BBC are right wing and the Right think they are left wing. QT has dumbed down but I have some sympathy, they are trying to engage a younger audience. They may (or may not) be making a hash of it but people found the same old politicians being rolled out bloody boring.

The BBC do a superb job, the amount of quality programming that they do is phenomenal.

It is also the one thing that people all over the world listen to for unbiased reporting. Aung San Suu Kyi listened to it all the time she was under house arrest (she may now regret saying how much she loved DLT)

Some of their "odder decisions" in recent years is because they keep being put under pressure about the licence fee e.g. Moving to Salford

In spite of Enders I think the BBC is brilliant and instead of doing the British thing of knocking everything we should be proud of it

The only channel where you don't have to sit through annoying, tedious, cringeworthy, retarded, adverts for people wanting to sort your PPI claim/injury/loan you money for 1000% interest per min.

It must survive in it's current format, it's far from perfect, but it's as British as roast beef and all the trimmings on a Sunday.
