The hangover has kicked in: Its quite nice to see a party in which the members are slavishly following the party whip and have ideas beyond that of their all glorious leaders. The irony is that if Tory MP's behaved in a similar manner to as how Labour are now, you would be lauding this as evidence of their imminent collapse. If I was a lefty, I would be very concerned and I am as a democrat because democracy does not appear to high on the agenda of Momentum.

I think what was predicted, has happened the party it has been split over Corbyn, personally I don't see how anyone with a brain in the their top locker can even remotley like the weasely little cnut, but clearly some demented window lickers in the party do. So whats going to happen ? I dont know, but it's going to get funnier and funnier the more in house spats they have ! The thing about recalls is that the incumbent tends to be screwed as they historically have very low turnouts, and most of those are the ones trying to oust the incumbent. Think of it like online reviews. You are more likely to write a review when angry than happy. They put alot of money and time, fearmongering and outright lying, to get that person out of office." That just made me think of the current left wing calls for deselection of MPs who didn't vote the way they wanted on air strikes. It seems that left or right, w@nkers just don't like it when people don't agree with them!

I don't see Corbyn as being any more of a threat to democracy as any other politician. Whilst there is a trend to making him out to be Comrade Stalin the II, that's as absurd as the idea of Nigel Farage being a closet fascist, with a copy of Mein Kampf as his bible. I wouldn't say that saying anyone who campaigns to get a vote to go their way, by calling anyone who votes against it a 'terrorist sympathiser' is far more of a threat to democracy that the wee beardy one. Even if he did win election, I doubt he'd win it by the kind of mandate that would allow him to establish himself like somekind of Stalinist overseer.

Agree with this, and its a tactic of all three of the major parties, but it can broadly be expanded into the very idea of the party whip, where in each party 'pressures and manipulates' its own members into supporting them. Shouldn't all votes be a free vote?

The whip is a ridiculous idea, and flies in the face of voting for an MP (rather than for "whoever the party choose to give us" or even "we'll go with what party X says"
