Would love to get Shelvey in. Big improvement on Jordan Mutch. Feel bad now as I booed him like a b****** at the Swansea game, sat in the front row of the main stand

A fully focussed Dr Evil would bring a lot of quality and enable us to keep the ball better. We would also be able to use Cabayes qualities more by pushing him further forward.

I like the sound of this. AP previously managed him at Charlton so must know he can handle his personality if he wants him, that’s good enough for me.

.

Shelvey could only have been 16 or 17 when Pardew was at Charlton.

Shelvey made his debut for Charlton at 16. I believe AP was in charge at that point.

Yes you are right.Pardew gave Shelvey his debut.

Regards Shelvey, I saw him star for England Schoolboys on the TV.

Whilst it saddens me that Ledley may suffer, the thought of Cabaye, Shelvey, McCarthur and Puncheon rotating in the midfield three has really cheered me up this morning.

I am sure Pardew will get the best out of him. My question is what kind of role he might play in midfield? I believe (though stand to be corrected) that for England this season he performed in a holding midfield position? If so that would be great. He could help to break up attacking play and then pass through to Zaha and Bolasie, or through to Wickham etc?

If he can get it through that treatment room window he will be some player!

Bring back Brolin

Where would he play as I can't see him joining just to be a bench-warmer? Would he come in next to Cabaye with Jimmy Mac moving further forward instead of Puncheon?

Stats actually confirm that Jedis passing this season is 75% and Ledleys is 77% so really this whole rubbishing of Jedis passing is laughable.

His passing on Sunday was OK - it was his tackling (fouling) and overall lack of speed that were more evident.

He can kiss goodbye to his England career if he signs for us! Woy won't pick Palace players for some reason!

Would be happy with this as long we can afford to sign a proven striker as well. Players like Jedinak or Campbell/Gayle may have to leave to make it happen

If we were to sell Jedinak that would be a big loss. We would be swopping a defensive midfielder with an attacking midfielder in Shelvey, and unbalancing the squad in that we would leave only Ledley as DM cover

Latest rumour mill sensation: double swoop for Shelvey plus Benik Afobe, England youth international scoring loadsa goals for Wolves

Youtube clip of Afobe! Very entertaining. Looks like he enjoys his work!

Tall, quick, strong, can finish with both feet and he's english! Interesting that Arsene Wenger sold this man and kept Sanogo on the books...

It's a good question. I have already said that I expect at least one "name" player to move on if we bring in our targets (who, I don't know.) That would probably cover a lot of the spend.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

I agree gut feeling tells me that although January is filled with links to everyone and anyone I believe there is something to this. If nothing else Palace tend to be very diligent and do bide their time when looking at players. (Connor Wickham springs to mind) and we know we did go in for him in the past. I dont see him as a replacement for Mile or Ledley. They all offer something different and i think Pardew will look to us Jojo as a number 10

If Shelvey comes to Palace...

Ward, Delaney, Dann, Souare
McArthur, Cabaye
Zaha, Shelvey, Bolasie
Wickham

Shelvey adds a ferocious shot from distance and I think he's creative enough to play the #10. Most importantly, I've had Shelvey on my team for XBOX and he's a monster in that role. I don't know more evidence anyone would need haha. Let's give it a shot. He'll always be able to play in that holding midfield role even if he's not able to be the #10.
