Begins at 8am. Have to say this is the first industrial action I can remember where I actually back the cause. Doctors, along with nurses especially, should be treasured.

I agree Doctors wouldn't strike without good cause, they save lives and pay and conditions should be whatever necessary. Unlike tube drivers who can go f*** themselves

I don't support strikes at all, but I have sympathy for this lot. They've tried to get Hunt to rethink and he flatly refuses to do so. Their action today is as much about patient safety as trying to earn a decent wage with reduced hours. Hunt's solution is to threaten the NHS Trusts with a fine if they force junior doctors to work unreasonable hours, instead of writing new contracts for the doctors prohibiting excessive hours. Also many are sceptical of the mathematical formula used to compare old pay with hew pay under the new regime online. I've had a lot of dealings with hospital doctors this past 10 years and they deserve better treatment. Sadly, all today will do is put back operations for new hips, knees etc of people who have already waited years for it. Hunt is a bit of a tw*t, and should be replaced.

NHS hospitals are top heavy with admin managers and quango's on more money that the doctors and nurses they employ and largely are 9-5 robots who get O/T the minute they work past 1730. Get rid of the middle management red tape w***ers free up money for more doctors and nurses on decent pay. Also many are sceptical of the mathematical formula used to compare old pay with hew pay under the new regime online. It's there to save more money obvioulsy. I've had a lot of dealings with hospital doctors this past 10 years and they deserve better treatment. You think the Jnr doctors get it bad, try being a Nurse they really are angels who get treated like s***, and paid less per year than an assistant manager at ALDI FFS. Sadly, all today will do is put back operations for new hips, knees etc of people who have already waited years for it. To be honest HOOF they should be thanking there lucky stars that they are going (eventually) to get a FREE hip/Knee operation that privatley would cost 10's of thousands. Hunt is a bit of a tw*t, and should be replaced. I think that is a bit like saying Hitler was a little right of center, in that he is not just a bit of t***t, he is a raging turbo thunder cnut of the highest order. and if Cameron doesnt adress this issue soon, the NHS will be an election loser and then I will emmigrate.
