Don't get me wrong, nothing is black and white - I'd have had some sympathy for Johnson had the girl had been in a club and he didn't know her age but that's certainly not the case. It all comes down to self control, in my opinion a normal person can show self control. I'm fiercely loyal to my wife and regardless of whether we hadn't had sex for a year or a week, I like to think I'd be able to still exhibit that same level of self control - if I thought that the only way to gratify myself was with a kid, I'd sooner kill myself than ruin a child's life. What kind of different punishment? I honestly think that crimes against children are the most abhorrent type and deserve the worst punishment. Don't get me wrong, nothing is black and white - I'd have had some sympathy for Johnson had the girl had been in a club and he didn't know her age but that's certainly not the case.
It all comes down to self control, in my opinion a normal person can show self control. I'm fiercely loyal to my wife and regardless of whether we hadn't had sex for a year or a week, I like to think I'd be able to still exhibit that same level of self control - if I thought that the only way to gratify myself was with a kid, I'd sooner kill myself than ruin a child's life. I just don't think it all comes down to an illness that causes that attraction, I think you have to be a certain type of person to act on it.
