You ought never to make judgements which will affect future generations on cyclical ups and downs, which the building industry is particularly affected by. Leaving the EU will not only have a short term impact it will inflict long term damage to the UK, it's position in the world and our consequent economic prosperity. A true judgement won't be possible for 20 to 30 years from now during which time I see the UK breaking up with Scotland re-joining and enjoying significant economic success relative to England and Wales. I see the fight for a united Ireland resuming in earnest and a much greater probability of that happening as Eire will look a better prospect than England as an economy. England will have no obvious role. It's financial services sector will largely emigrate to France and Germany. Back office functions to Scotland and Ireland. Manufacturing has already fled. Our innovators will still innovate but unless we become a low wage economy their products will not be made here. Do we really want to be a low wage economy? We ought to remain a member but at the very least we need to remain, via a deal, aligned in the closest way possible to EU standards and no tariff barriers. Those arguing we jump off the cliff edge with their eyes shut and their pockets full of nothing but optimism are nothing less than either stubborn donkeys or political opportunists willing to sacrifice their country for personal ambition. This is why Parliament must, and I trust will, act to stop Bogus Johnson. Great start to the week. This post is probably going to be the most ludicrous thing I read this week. Thanks for cheering me up !!!

Nobody can predict whats whot next week let alone 30 years so why worry about it? Seems a bit silly to me as the EU might not even exiist by then and France Germany etc might have had enough of it and f***ed off too. Not being funny your probably a top bloke but do you find telling others how to think has got them on your side? Another reason i'd change to vote Leave now is there's lots of people trying to make out leavers are thick we'll hang on, that's all my mates near enough and we keep the country going not the government. I admit I only went remain because I was scared of a recession feel lied to now these big wigs haven't a clue and have a cheek telling anyone they were wrong.

I was an terrible speller and it took work over years to improve on that. If you'd allow me to give a tip, never allow auto-correct to re-write a word for you and instead look at the correction and apply it yourself. I remember that helping me a lot. Kudos to you and your daughter. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Aug 2019 1.50pm)

As 99% of everything I read from you is a load of tosh I don't regard your criticism very seriously. Indeed I regard it as a solid confirmation that those who support a "no deal" exit have no idea what they are actually seeking. You are just another with a pocket full of optimism.

No, I gave that up at the same time as Black Forest Gateau fell out of favour as a dessert. I prefer all my courses to be served up with a large side of realism and not smothered in a sauce of untested recipes with fake claims and wishful thinking as the primary ingredients.
