Sainsburys will be a tough nut. They have a wealth of property experts and an awful lot of money.
Sainsburys are going to play hardball.

There are many scenarios where Palace might be able to get a deal.
*Some kind of compromise where Sainsburys retain a presence in the new ground/stand.
*Palace having their pants pulled down, and held to ransom.
*A fire in Sainsburys staff kitchen takes the store and Whitehorse stand down.
etc, etc

I had an interesting exchange with one of them for describing Palace as a '' piddling club with a s*** stadium ''

'' Piddling '' ? - well if you call 5 consecutive seasons in the PL piddling, then ok....as for the stadium, most of them were nowhere to be seen when they played at the Council athletics track, and they couldn't even sell that out !

Btw - some of them now discussing getting RLC on loan next season....

well then it must really hurt losing to such a piddling club. 3-2

I would prefer your third option.

And if we're such a piddling club, why don't they don't a bigger rival? I'd be entirely happy with that.

hahaha the bitterness on the NSC is fabulous to read through

They are worried. They have been banging on about their attendances ever since the Amex was built (didn't mention them before though) and now see that Palace will have a bigger ground than them.

It's odd, they slate Selhurst (somewhat justly) yet can't see the need to replace our oldest stand. They bang on about doing things organically yet don't understand the need to replace stands one at a time.

They're also comparing the stand with their West Stand...talk about comparing apples and pears! The new main stand will be bigger for a start but still....if it makes them feel better

Not sure many people have picked up on this... but nine council flats will be built in two to four-storey blocks at the rear of the Holmesdale Road Stand to replace those lost as a result of the Main Stand expansion.

Finally, some good news on the stadium front to go along with the positives on the pitch. I'll be much happier when this juts over the line and shovels go to ground. I might see it finished in my life time, God willing.

Excellent news.

Surely a CPO can be imposed on Sainsbury's?

My thoughts as well. Sainsubury's are entitled to receive fair compensation but that doesn't mean they can rob us. I recall a poster from years ago saying that the amount Sainsbury's was rumoured to want was more per square foot than say Mayfair. Now we have approval I hope that they will realise it is better to do a fair deal and keep in with the locals than to alienate their public. If agreement cannot be reached then hopefully a CPO will be imposed.
