Going by my visit to the new Spurs stadium, if almost doubling your capacity requires bugger all by way of improvements to local transport then we should be fine on this. Croydon Council is a far different kettle of fish than Haringey.

Just guessing, which was how I started this post which has become more likely and needed.

Crystal Palace have been given planning permission by Croydon Council to build a new Main Stand, which will increase the capacity of Selhurst Park from to 26,000 to more than 34,000. The Eagles would like to begin work on the redevelopment, which will cost between £75m to £100m, at the end of this season with a view to it being ready for the 2021/22 campaign. However negotiations are still ongoing with Croydon Council over Palace’s Section 106 obligations, as per the Town & Country Planning Act 1990, to fund transport and community improvement initiatives. Until that is agreed work cannot begin, but Standard Sport understands talks are progressing well and just a few issues need finalising. The Eagles are also making progress with work on their new academy and Parish, Crystal Palace’s chairman and co-owner, has assured fans he is determined to deliver both projects. “Things are moving forward,” said Parish as he addressed Eagles supporters at Tuesday's Crystal Palace awards. “Certainly from me, I won’t rest until we see that new stand built and we see the investment in the academy. “What all these guys want to see, what the players want to see, is progress of the club. We have had some difficult moments with that and there are still some hurdles to get over. “But that and the academy, we are 100 per cent committed to. Don’t think for a minute that I don’t think like a supporter when I see what Tottenham are doing and other clubs. “We need to get there. It is a big challenge for me and a big challenge for everyone at the club, but we need to make sure it happens.” Uh oh now we want to be spurs. Used to be Swansea, and look what happened to them. We cannot ever be Spurs, nor should we want to be. So talks are stalling. Sounds a bit like the Niasse transfer negotiations. I wonder if the same person is running them.

But hey we're a Premier League mega club so we should pay instead.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave No plans for additional closed roads on matchdays There will be a residents CPZ (controlled parking zone) for some distance around the vicinity of the stadium (common at most larger grounds) Council wanted Palace to include public transport in the cost of a ticket, but it wasn't practical with where everyone comes from They also wanted Palace to fund station improvements, but these are already planned and funded anyway by the Mayor's office Palace will be required to have local street clean up teams, and the odd toilet between stations and the ground (presumably those pissoir units)

I am not commenting in relation to CPFC/Croydon or anything specific to do with the Main Stand. At least there is some transparency nowadays, and the cash in envelopes process is largely gone.

Councils have also suffered huge funding cuts across the country, so it's hardly surprising that when a multi-million pound entity wants to get something done they try and get something out of it for themselves.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Say rebuild 2 railway stations build new bus lanes and develop a whole network of cycle an pedestrian routes. Spurs check coffers for loose change and say no problem. The somewhat less sympathetic Croydon lpa make similar demands of us which are beyond our finances. So we have to dig in and try and strike a deal. Thus things take longer and time lags will appear which the media will describe as "stalls". It will happen at the right cost but the wrong speed.
