Could not agree more with flash. If Benteke signs for £30 million and scores 20 goals ,what is he going to be worth then.

Fantastic if we sign him soon and he scores 20 goals for us.

Nothing in life is without risk, and if it doesn't work out for whatever reason, there will be questions as to why we paid out some £30m for Klopp's flop.

We tried the cheap option for many years, now it's time to solve a problem that has been at the club since promotion. A goalscorer that we desperately need. Whether benteke is the answer remains to be seen, however with someone, who scored many goals for struggling Aston villa side. He ticks many boxes. E.g hold up play, good in the air. He worked well in a 433 formation for villa.

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

I may be wrong but I thought clubs took out insurance to cover the risk of 'career ending injury'.

I very much doubt our Chairman would be contemplating a deal if there was any chance it was going to ruin the club. I agree with Canterbury, in spite of the huge cost, I don't see this as high risk.

Doesn't solve the ongoing problem and loaning players costs for the loan as well as the wages, without any ownership at the end of it.

We've done well to get to where we are, now is the time to build a squad for the longer term. Tomkins and Townsend are good clear signals of that. To keep not addressing the goal scoring issue is going to cost us badly eventually.

As long as we can manage the wage issue with regards to club finances and the other players and their agents it really has to happen. The wages are the concern. Highest earners currently on £80k. To brng someone in on 50% more brings its issues.

I'm split as to whether this is the best move for us. "Fairly low risk"? Certainly not. It's not about injury (there's insurance to cover this) but it's all about performance and results.
On balance I think I'd take the risk. But it's a huge risk. Imagine if we're in the Championship next season with a mega wage bill and a star striker who's flopped in the premier league for 2 successive seasons.
It's a HUGE risk - but I think I'd take it.

If we sign him for £30 mil then after every game we put him in a box of Bubble wrap and then put that box in more bubble wrap just to make sure he doesn't get crocked

already got 3 good players, on the cheap, really. you have to overspend for a striker. and here is one that is a proven PL goal scorer - how many of them are on the market?

chelsea paid 33M for batshuayi and the reports are already that he's not ready for the PL yet. and we were going to pay buckets for him.

30M is a big gamble but it's probably the lowest risk of any options out there.

Well apparantly we as a team put in the most crosses of any team in the prem last season. Guess who won the most headers last season ? So the transfer makes sence to me.

It makes sound sense to me, given that we sold Gayle for£10m and have received a small fortune in tv money this year.

His signing should in all likelihood, see the Eagles soaring up the table and last season's second half performance will be a distant memory.

Let's get this signing done and dusted.

Does CB want to play for CPFC? Doesn't appear to...or is it just me?

We don't know yet. The comments he wanted to fight for his LFC place came from the agent. If we've only made a bid of £25 mil then it isn't up to Benteke yet anyway. There are rumours that personal terms have been agreed, the way it's sometimes done these days.

My guess is that he'd prefer a bigger club but will have to move being 4th or 5th choice at LFC. CPFC is a chance for CB to revive his career. Mess it up and he'll never fulfil potential.
