I was round my bro's last night when it comes through on my mobile that we have just bid £25m for bent eke just after we missed a bid of £ £30 m for that other French geez. This is like when Sir Bert Head started going mad. Makes me all giddy. This is better. I'm lovin it. So proud to be Palace. All my Chelsea Arsenal and Other London mates are full of respect. We are just not used to this. Wembley twice now this. Am I dreaming? This has been so long coming. We are going big time. We are sooooo lucky. Yesssss. Thank you SP and Americans or whoever is behind this. Everyday is a winner. Out of Europe. I'm in dream city. Yesssss.

Whether we get Benteke or not I am pleased we are doing our business early.
I have been critical of AP but if the Tompkins deal goes ahead then we are definitely trying to get sorted way in advance of previous years.
Fair play to everyone at CPFC!

Has been a blinding transfer window already , proper quality. I think we might have a winger now, that we can justifiably moan about not getting in the England squad.
Couple more good signings we will be a decent side.

If benteke and Tompkins happen ( looks more than likely). A good number 10 and I think it will be a really really good window,I had my fear for this coming season, but if this all happens ..feel much better about it.

Awesome news us buying top class footballers! Early too and just the positions I hoped for. Mandana is world class - no sweating about his performances. Townsend one of the best prem players, a winger, shoots with either foot from way outside the box, dribbles like Zaha, a leader, can see a play and slot a killer pass, an awesome player for us that easily suits our style and can strengthen the midfield as well. Benteke looks like he'll be here too and suits us to a tee. Tomkins from West Ham (to replace Delaney? or to do Jedinak's role bossing in defensive midfield???), anyway he's is awesome, another Scott Dann type and a leader. Getting these players we need early in time for USA trip ready for next season is a far cry to previous seasons that drove us all nuts. Fantastic! TY Alan Pardew and Parish and Co!!!! Can't wait for the season to begin! What a team!

I just like the post above, hasn't quite turned out that way.

No it did not, but they're all still here so hopefully SA can make a better job of using them than Pardew did.

If we go back in time to that post it is quite reasonable (in my defense). To me, it highlights what an utter TW@T somebody in charge was!

Possibly but also highlights why Townsend and Benteke have been shunted about. Neither have got close to living up to expectations. At least the other 2 have proved useful in keeping Wickham company in the treatment room.

True, but why don't players meet their expectations when they come here? Townsend and Benteke were awesome, consistently, before they arrived here. It's Pardew. He can't manage. He'll get by on some hype and big talk for a while until he's needed to manage things: [Link]

Not sure i agree about Benteke. He's done OK. Started with a hiss and a roar. When the team's playing well and creating chances, he generally takes them. When the team's struggling and hoofing balls up to him surrounded by 3 defenders, he's not quite as awesome. Go figure.
