We could have great strikers, the fact we don't create many chances is more of a worry. I personally think playing 2 midfielders would be a mistake as we would get over run in midfield. I think cabaye is to slow to play in a 2 man midfield.

look at the stats - plenty of balls coming in. no striker to either create opportunities or finish.

how many games did FC play in the winter? i'd bet you're almost more likely to score than him.

Average shots on goal/on target per game last season:

1st Spurs 17.3/6.6
9th Palace 12.3/4
20th Villa 10/WBA 2.8

That puts Palace 9th/10th in the 'shots per game' stats table. Surprisingly good considering our lack of a regular/prolific striker.
Though it can always be improved, 'Creating many chances' isn't the issue.

Playing Caybye so deep is a waste IMO. He is a great attacking mid and only think he plays deeper now becuase of his age.
Been saying for last 2 seasons we should play two strikers yet Pardew thinks he knows better than me ffs

Alot of that is set play, not from open play though

It is not so much about the quality of crosses in to the box nor is it about Wickham's movement be it good or bad. The simple fact as I see is that we do not get anywhere near enough bodies in the box.

Along with Wickham, Puncheon and the wide man who does not have the ball should always be in or getting in to the box and either Cabaye or McArthur looking to do the same.

The idea then is for the wide man to get the ball in the box, it does not always need to be done with pinpoint accuracy if we have three plus players there waiting for the cross.
